Director of Operations, Operations & Business Insights

The Product and Price Enablement (PPE) team within the Operations & Business Insights (OBI) organization is looking for a Director of Operations who will lead a team that strives for efficiency and accuracy to continuously deliver products to market. You will excel at telling compelling stories using data, seek deep understanding of monetization planning scenarios and our commerce systems, collaborate broadly to continuously improve our launch tools and processes. About Our Team:

Our Operations & Business Insights (OBI) team’s mission is to empower & delight customers with seamless, accurate, and efficient delivery of market offerings & pricing for the world’s largest product portfolio. Small but impactful, we are comprised of three teams who work together:

  1. Product and Price Enablement (PPE) who launches Microsoft’s products, prices, and promotions to the market quickly, accurately, and at scale.
  2. Technical Solutions Team (TST) who is reimagining and implementing an innovative roadmap for tooling, responsible for capturing requirements for all of Microsoft’s global launch offerings.
  3. Data Science & Engineering team who is optimizing offer and price strategy through the development of a data and insights platform.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Business Supply Chain, Finance, Business Management, Accounting, Human Resources (HR), Organizational Development or related field AND 8+ years Operations or Process Design or Program/Project Management experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years people management experience or as a project lead where you managed people toward project deliverables.
  • 4+ years of professional experience within an enterprise-level environment.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Business Supply Chain, Finance, Business Management, Accounting, Human Resources (HR), Organizational Development or related field AND 15+ years Operations or Process Design or Program/Project Management experience
    • OR Master’s Degree in Management, Business Administration, or related field AND 12+ years Operations or Process Design or Program/Project Management experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in program management and/or operations within the technology industry.
  • Curious, creative, and collaborative mindset with a passion for data-driven decision making.
  • Aptitude for leveraging data management and data mining tools to create impactful stories that inform and persuade our stakeholders.
  • Executive maturity, excellent problem-solving skills, and an ability to see the big picture are key for this role.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills across various stakeholders including marketing and engineering executives, customers, and partners.
  • Experience delivering results on time with good judgment, personal accountability, and high integrity.
  • Ability to recruit and retain top talent including developing other people to be effective leaders.
  • Abilityto work independently and effectively as part of a broad team, driving successful outcomes with virtual teams.

Launch Management M6 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 – $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 – $292,200 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Launch Leaders responsible for enabling our Product Business Planners to quickly and easily launch new offers to market.
  • Lead the PPE team’s journey to impactful storytelling through data excellence.
  • Focus on and iterate through improved performance through capturing and consistently reporting out compelling insights that fundamentally change the way we lead through operations.
  • Partner with our Data Science and Chief Economist teams to build trustworthy dashboards, insights, and learning models.
  • Drive operational excellence required to ensure product configurations meet business intent with quality, compliance, and time-to-market agility.
  • Be a thought leader who drives strategy and synergies across our launch team by partnering closely with your peers.
  • Continuously improve the product and offer launch process, delivering increased value to our customers and partners accurately and on time.
  • Develop partner relationships across Business Planning, Commerce Engineering, Finance, Compliance, and Operational teams to automate and accelerate existing processes.
  • Manage budget, compliance, and staffing to deliver on your business objectives.
