Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
Under limited supervision, reporting to the Associate Vice President (Associate VP) for Development Operations and Services, the Director of Talent Development (Director) is responsible for staffing and managing the Develop Carolina training program and will provide strategic direction to the Division of Development to ensure we attract the right talent and help grow to their optimal potential. The Director will oversee the full scope of processes to attract, develop, motivate, and retain high-performing employees. The Director will serve as an advisor to the onboarding process and employee experience. In addition to running full-cycle recruitment for open positions, the Director will also build a diverse pipeline of fundraising talent. Other responsibilities include but not limited to coordinating and managing staff training and professional development and providing helpful resources and training to hiring supervisors. Closely partners with Talent Acquisition to maximize recruitment resources to attract talent to vacant and future positions. The position is vital to increase awareness and ensure that our recruitment initiatives demonstrate a measurable commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Seeks opportunities for improvement for efficiency and continuity. Makes recommendations for program improvements to meet the needs of development staff. Ensures compliance with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Works closely with the Associate VP on all matters that are impactful to the division’s operations and services.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. May be required to travel to conference for professional development and continual education. Must have reliable means of transportation.

Preferred Qualifications
Supervisory experience and work experience in performing human resources, talent management or development in a higher educational setting are preferred. Experience and understanding of the philanthropic process and fundraising programs.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Thorough knowledge of adhering to policies and procedures in areas of human resources, talent management or development. Ability to collaborate and work with varied experienced level of professionals for strategy or confidential discussions. Strong organizational and analytical skills with ability to initiate, analyze, and monitor plans that support the goals and objectives for the division. Ability to lead groups and projects as well as function as part of an integrated team. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word, and Excel). Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize work and manage diverse and competing priorities while meeting deadlines. The ability to interpret, process and analyze employee data in order to produce in-depth and meaningful statistics for planning. Ability to communicate with a broad range of personalities with tact and diplomacy and capability of creating connections or consensus between and among individuals and teams. Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
