Director, Public Affairs/ESG

Overview

Develops the external corporate communications strategy, including media strategy, executive leadership messaging, environmental, social, governance reporting and crisis communications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares voice-of-the-C-suite talking points, press releases and other materials.
  • Oversees ongoing communications in support of labor relations
  • Supports media relations strategy and direct news flow, including proactive and reactive opportunities with global and trade publications.
  • Develops the Company’s ESG report and related materials, working in collaboration with key stakeholders around the company
  • Represents the company as a spokesperson as appropriate on issues that affect the company, its reputation, and the competitive environment in which it operates with a specific focus on CVG, MIA and ANC markets.
  • Actively engages with key influencers in the communities in which we do business to drive the company’s business and workforce development objectives.
  • Ensures ongoing coordination with Internal Communications.
  • Actively drives company’s crisis communications activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or business-related field preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in creating and implementing comprehensive internal and external communication strategies
  • Expertise should include experience in executive communications, public relations, media relations, public affairs, labor relations, event planning, crisis communications and reputation management with ability to scale.
  • Industry and labor relations experience preferred.

Special demands:

  • Typically requires overnight travel 10-15% of the time.

  • Excellence in communications best practices, standards and vehicles.
  • Ability to oversee a high volume of projects with an agile, collaborative approach and ability to guide team through a fast-moving internal and external environment.
  • Drives change in a matrixed organization, understand priorities, and manage multiple projects.
  • Advanced editing and proofreading skills, along with a focus on rapid and flawless execution delivering against deadlines.
  • Comfortable in a highly interactive, dynamic, collaborative work environment.
  • Approachable and willing to engage with diverse personalities and stakeholders, including colleagues, customers, business partners, industry associations, community leaders, agency partners, and the public.
  • Demonstrated capability to utilize balanced judgment in assessing the likely impact of messaging within the organization, and effectively adjusting the message as needed to achieve the required objective.
  • Attention to detail and ability to create clear strategies and plans for success with recommend prioritization and changes to plan to optimize results.
  • Can drive change and succeed in a matrixed organization, understand priorities, and manage multiple tracks of business.
  • Proven ability to motivate others, including team members who are not direct reports.
  • Experience writing for executives and their teams.
  • Experience developing communications in support of labor relations.

Salary Range: $121,600- $164,300

Financial offer within the stated range is contingent on the qualification of selected candidates
