Role Overview

The Director of Training at Van Cleef & Arpels is responsible for building and leading a retail and corporate training team to support all VCA Americas Region boutiques and its employees. This role will involve developing a department strategy and retail training path aligned with business objectives. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, the Director of Training will design and execute the training strategy for VCA Americas. This position reports to the AVP of Retail Strategy and Performance and is based in the corporate offices in New York.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing content, identify learning opportunities, and create necessary content to address training needs.
  • Train sales associates on VCA collections, covering Maison history, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
  • Conduct retail coaching and in-store observations, providing feedback to the store management team.
  • Create, monitor, and track store visits to support key regional initiatives.
  • Execute and follow up on in-store trainings.
  • Monitor all eLearning platforms for the assigned market.
  • Support ad-hoc projects as required by management to contribute to the business.
  • Collaborate with interdepartmental committees or task forces, as necessary.
  • Execute the company’s strategic training plan tailored to VCA business goals.
  • Design, pilot, and launch retail training programs focused on product training, sales, and retail management.
  • Introduce e-learning for Retail Training and develop a pilot process for rollout.
  • Ensure strategic quality of goal setting, follow-up, and measurement of L&D activities programs in partnership with Boutique Directors and Retail Trainers.
  • Review and provide feedback to ensure training is relevant, focused, and can be reinforced by behavioral coaching.
  • Establish and maintain training metrics to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of learning outcomes on business results.
  • Facilitate induction for new hires via “Bloom with VCA” in partnership with HR and L&D teams, and support field training teams in facilitating clear in-store and corporate onboarding.
  • Manage new and ongoing training and leadership development initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with solid career progression, including at least three years’ experience in retail or in a luxury environment including experience in adult learning, facilitation and instructional design with a deep understanding of high-end clients
  • Strong project management experience in successfully managing, delivering, and improving high-quality programs;
  • Effective and creative problem-solving skills, strong business acumen;
  • Demonstrated ability to employ sound judgment in complex situations;
  • Must be comfortable working through ambiguity and in a fast-paced dynamic environment with the ability to handle multiple priorities;
  • Self-directed in planning own work and work of teams;
  • Excellent interpersonal, public communication and facilitation skills and the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; strong organizational skills;
  • Working knowledge of group and corporate dynamics and integrity;
  • Ability to work effectively and collaborate with all levels within an organization;
  • Must possess a positive, solution-oriented, and customer-focused attitude;
  • Knowledge of eLearning platforms
  • Strong technical aptitude and expertise (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Learning Management Systems)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 70% of time
