What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll take incoming calls, receive orders, schedule daily deliveries, and address customer issues as they arise. You will also help fill in for scale operation as needed for business demands which includes weighing our trucks, servicing customers as they pick up their products, and processing payments. You’ll work both independently and with a team to provide top-tier customer service. By doing so, you’ll play an integral part as we stand together to reinvent the way our world is built.
If you’re someone that takes pride in your organizational and multitasking skills, enjoys finding creative solutions to customer requests, is proficient with basic math and using a computer for data entry, and thrives in a fast-paced environment, you’ll feel right at home here. Our ideal candidate will also have knowledge of the service area in Salem, preferably in the transportation and construction industry. However, drive and willingness to learn will give anyone the opportunity to grow with our team.
Location: Salem will be the primary reporting location. The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis, to our various sites in Salem, Eugene, and Corvallis for scale operation.
Wage: $19+/hr DOE w/ potential for overtime during our busy season.
Shift: M-F, full time. Some Saturdays may be needed due to business demands.
What You Can Do (Qualifications)
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrates ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with all departments and customers on the phone and in person.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows applications, ideally having exceptional typing skills, and basic understanding of various computer commands and shortcuts.
- Ability to schedule, prioritize task items, and enter data across various systems.
- Ability to handle problems as they arise in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to always display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to rate, ration, percent, and interpret bar graphs.
- High attention to detail and exceptional organization.
- Obtain a valid Driver’s License.
- Be willing to travel occassionally to our various sites in Salem, Eugene, and Corvallis for scale operation.
- Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
- Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
- Demonstrates the ability to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
- Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) – Ability to speak, read and write fluently.
- Trucking and construction related industry experience.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Dispatcher Responsibilities
- Intake and verify orders via centralized call center with high call volumes.
- Maintain a pleasant and accommodating demeanor over the phone and always demonstrate positive and professional attitude with team members, customers, drivers, dispatchers, salesmen etc.
- Aggressively seek timely solutions to developing problems while fostering lasting business relationships with our customers.
- Schedule, dispatch, and control the appropriate level of drivers required to satisfy customer demand while maintaining safety and efficiency goals established by the company.
- Demonstrates ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to navigate various computer systems. Needs to be familiar with our local delivery areas and must be able to assist drivers in finding jobsites.
- Must be able to work overtime and varying shifts including early mornings, late afternoons, and Saturdays.
- Record accurate delivery and product information on order; negotiate delivery times with customers.
- Attention to detail is imperative to accurately record delivery and product information into command dispatch system with ability to negotiate delivery times with customers.
- Must be able to perform in high call volume situations while multitasking with plants, team members in the office while sitting for long periods of time.
- Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material.
- Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
- Regular and timely attendance.

Scale Operator Responsibilities
- Ensure efficiency of weighing trucks across scale.
- Monitor load sizes of company trucks.
- Service all customer pick-up business.
- Cash procedures i.e.: Required to receive and log cash from C.O.D. sales, and gravel tickets. Required to balance and maintain cash box. Daily balance required.
- Communicate with loader operator via two-way radio to accomplish the loading of pick-up customers.
- Greet and assist visitors entering yard. Ensure site specific safety rules are understood and followed.
- Collect and sort aggregate order cards along with delivery tickets.
- Enter delivery times off concrete tickets into computer system.
- Maintain MSHA Part 46 Log ensuring compliance.
- Record accurate deliver and product information on order, negotiates delivery times with customers.
- Attention to detail is imperative to accurately record delivery and product information into command dispatch system with ability to negotiate delivery times with customers.
- Travel between various work site locations (local) as needed.
- Must be able to perform in high call volume situations while multitasking with plants, team members in the office while sitting for long periods of time.
- As proficiency is gained, may coordinate and schedule deliveries of aggregate and/or concrete products to construction and residential sites.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
