Position Specific Description
In this role you will report to the Distributed Generation (DG) Early Stage Land Development Senior Project Manager and be responsible for early-stage greenfield land origination and acquisition in any of the following regions: West, Central, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. You will work directly with the origination team to understand your region and identify and secure optimal greenfield sites in order to cultivate a pipeline of viable, competitive solar sites in support of the region’s origination strategy.
Your job is to acquire new greenfield sites for DG projects that have been vetted for preliminary environmental issues and initial DG system engineering design, injection capacity, and have the capability to be permitted. The sites must also be in line with Origination’s market/program and customer demand strategy. Initial diligence of local zoning ordinances and permitting to ensure future development of the project is also a key component of the role. Once viable sites have been identified, your job will be to engage landowners and take the lead on requesting the agreement from our real estate legal department and negotiating key financial and commercial terms of the real estate agreement and getting the agreement to execution. In parallel, your job will also be to file the interconnection request with the appropriate distribution utility.
Travel for this role will fluctuate, and you can expect to travel 40% of the time. Practical experience dealing with solar project development, including real estate acquisition, land and title matters, permitting, interconnection, and community outreach is essential in this role, along with technical acumen in GIS. To do this job well, you must be a team player that can balance priorities and communicate effectively with the DG team, numerous internal subject matter experts, external consultants, and customers to successfully navigate the processes necessary to acquire optimal DG solar sites.
The perfect candidate for this position has extensive project management experience and can take ownership over their process within the reporting guidelines and internal processes of the Company.
Main attributes and requirements:
- Technical experience using GIS tools and Google Earth highly preferred
- Experience negotiating renewable lease option and purchase option agreements
- Experience with land and title matters preferred
- Project management experience
- Establish and manage relationships with landowners and other stakeholders in support of site acquisition
- Initiate interconnection process for new projects
- Provide reports to management by producing regular and frequent pipeline updates, project status updates, and other reporting documents
- Communicate information continuously and effectively to cross-functional team
- Work with internal resources, such as the Environmental Services, Real Estate Legal, Engineering & Construction, Interconnection, and Regulatory teams
- Support the financial analysis and modeling of the project
Job Overview
Employees in this role are responsible for planning, controlling and directing real estate activities such as site location and acquisition, right-of-way negotiation, building and land acquisition and disposition, space leasing, property management, and maintenance of properties to support wind site development. This position will be located in field office with significant travel requirements.

The base pay for this position is $84,800.00 to $127,200.00 per year. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
