Summary
The Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy’s Communications and Outreach team is responsible for advancing the School’s visibility and reputation with prospective students, alumni, donors, academic and policy communities, and other audiences.
We seek a creative, collaborative Graphic Designer & Social Media Coordinator with strong design and social media skills to help us achieve our mission.
You will design and produce creative, strategic Ford School communications material, including print and digital brochures, videos, posters, ad campaigns, web content, social graphics, brand elements, and other collateral. You will also play key production and creative roles in the school’s earned and paid social media strategies. You will report to the Director of Communications & Outreach and be part of a strong team of social and design professionals led by the Assistant Director for Digital Strategies.

Responsibilities*
- Design (50%): Leverage and expand the boundaries of the Ford School’s strong brand identity to bring our storytelling to visual life.
- Design a wide range of print and digital strategic, compelling pieces for Ford School programs, research centers, and initiatives, including brochures, one-pagers, banners, posters, briefs, ads, infographics, and more.
- Manage multiple projects from a number of stakeholders, providing clear communication around timeline and expectations
- Provide logo, template, design, and photography consultation and support to many customers around the school
- Social media (50%)
- Create compelling content for our active social media channels, working with a team of colleagues and student employees.
- Design custom creative for events, news, and initiatives on social throughout the year
- Draft paid campaign designs, copy, and audiences; adjust campaigns based on the latest trends and/or historical data; report on campaign performance.
- Social media listening, analytics, and reporting
- Curate videos to go out via our website/emails/social media, managing design file backups and audio/video licensing
- Expertise in video analytics (views, engagement, drop-off) to inform new projects
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, or related degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1+ years of professional experience in graphic design
- 1+ years of experience in social media management
- Experience with design software and technologies (such as Adobe CS, including After Effects)
- Experience with Google Ads, Meta (Facebook & Instagram), LinkedIn, Twitter, and tracking performance in Google Analytics
- Strong writing skills
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time to meet deadlines.
- Strong teamwork skills
