Job Summary
Lead, direct and oversee the construction and maintenance of PSE&G Inside Plant resources and facilities, including substations, transmission switching stations, buildings and structures, and interconnections.
Job Responsibilities
Lead, direct and oversee the construction and maintenance of PSE&G Inside Plant resources and facilities, including substations, transmission switching stations, buildings and structures, and interconnections. Responsible for all construction and maintenance of Inside Plant Electrical Equipment including all associated support structures. Manage the emergency response and restoration to major inside plant facility failures. Oversee the activities of PSE&G Substation Construction and Maintenance associates, Relay Techs, Substation Mechanics, and Misc. Mechanics, to ensure safe and efficient execution of work for inside plant facilities. Responsible to deliver safe on-time on budget during the maintenance and construction of these facilities, in support of P&C and Electric Delivery portfolios. Includes contractor oversight and evaluation, outage planning, commissioning and start-up, and major failure restoration plans. Provide leadership to and development of the Substation Inside Plant Construction and Maintenance teams.
Direct and assist the 1st and 2nd level supervisors, and provide them with the appropriate resources to execute work required by the Construction and Maintenance department. Challenge, support, coach, and direct both the department’s management and represented personnel, and develop a participative work environment for the group. Develop and manage the departments business plan to meet goals, support distribution strategic teams and task forces and promote effective working partnerships with large commercial and industrial customers. Develop and manage the departments O&M and capital budgets. Oversee the personal development of associates within the department. Manage all department industrial relations matters.
Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities for growth and learning for construction personnel. Develops and executes labor strategies involving employees covered under the CBA. Provide direction and leadership and apply benchmark learnings to focus efforts on achieving company and business unit goals. Monitor, review and provide guidance to meet scorecard metrics around safety, productivity, reliability and customer service. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSE&G Standards for Business Controls and meet management’s expectations for effective internal business controls.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or in lieu of a degree 8 years of relevant experience
- Extensive experience in electric construction of substation facilities with demonstrated strong business results in operational leadership and management. Knowledge of transmission and distribution business and understanding of energy industry key issues, including opportunities, threats and trends.
- Experience in management of construction/testing contractors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of collective bargaining agreement. Proven leadership ability.
- Demonstrated high level management skills in coaching and development of business skills.
- Project management knowledge.
- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance.
Desired:
- NJ Professional Engineering License.
- MBA degree and/or other relevant professional certificates.
- Financial Business planning acumen.
