Job Responsibilities

  • Serves on the leadership team for the Commissioner office within DPH
  • Direct report to Deputy Commissioner
  • Provides leadership and oversight for all County District public health operations
  • Serves as primary contact for all District Health Directors and their staffs
  • Organizes all scheduled monthly and quarterly District Health Directors, DHD Council, Administrators, Program Manager meetings and discussions.
  • Regularly visits districts to understand and stay abreast of resources, operations and concerns expressed or that affect district operations
  • Collaborates with team responsible for compiling and analyzing the annual Communication Survey to determine district priorities, areas of concern and helps to develop strategy with implementation timeline.
  • Regularly meets with DPH Executive Leadership team and Program managers to determine topics that need to be shared with District Health Directors
  • Coordinates and manages District to State and State to District training with other DPH Program leaders
  • Attends professional conferences and meetings to enhance professional development
  • Briefs the DPH Executive Leadership Team on District matters and concerns upon request or when requested
  • Demonstrates strong relationship and coalition building skills
  • Excellent communication skills to include public speaking, writing and presentation skills
  • Experience organizing and managing program level operations
  • Assist with development of the Agency Strategic Plan
  • Good at organizing tasks and projects

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years experience managing professional level staff
OR
Eight years of related professional experience AND Four years managing at the level equivalent to area of assignment
OR
Four years of experience at the lower level (GSM011) or position equivalent.
Note: A combination of education and experience at agency discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:
Served in a lead or manager position in a Georgia Public Health District or County Health Department

This is a GRANT FUNDED position and subject to available grant funds.
