Job Description
SUMMARY
Assists with the implementation of District policies and procedures, State Board regulations, Federal regulations and State statutes in the area of Curriculum and Instruction with a specialty in Bilingual Education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
Monitors appropriate placement of students based on student information system data.
Provides and/or participates in the training of language assessment tools.
Verifies student placement continuously throughout the year and works with counselors/administrators to ensure proper placement of students.
Plans, schedules, and facilitates professional development for Bilingual Education.
Participates in District and Campus DASH and PDP development and implementation.
Assists with campus research, i.e., needs assessment, as it pertains to the status of the bilingual programs, in order to recommend direction for improvement. Assists in the development of questionnaires and interviews school staff and administrators to obtain information about the bilingual curriculum and instruction.
Selects and recommends training methods to be used with staff, such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises or computer-based training.
Participates in district and campus projects and initiatives relating to curriculum and instruction.
Supports campuses in the implementation of their Parent Involvement Initiatives as prescribed in the campus EPSS.
Assists in the implementation of technology-integrated instruction.
Consistently visits classrooms to observe effectiveness of the Bilingual Education Program.
Maintains data on the Power School System.
Monitors the implementation of the approved OCR plan.
Supports Campus Student Language Review Teams, when appropriate.
Attends training, conferences, workshops, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Performs other duties related to the improvement of student achievement as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Master’s Degree (M.A.) or equivalent with a Bilingual Education Credential
- Five (5) years or more as a classroom teacher
- Level 3 Licensed preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
New Mexico Public Education Teacher License Level 3 preferred
Supplemental Information
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and responds to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
