Diversity & Inclusion Specialist I

The Diversity & Inclusion Specialist I will be a critical member of our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) team and will support delivering research-driven best practices in creating learning opportunities in the Aerospace & Defense industry that support equitable access, inclusive environments, and a sense of belonging. The D&I Specialist collaborates with team members to develop and deliver relevant products such as job aids and resources, as well as an in-person and live webinar engagement opportunities. In addition, the D&I Specialist partners with Global D&I to support Ball Employee Resource and Interest Groups.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate and cultivate relationships with HR partners, business leaders, stakeholders, and other team members to develop and implement inclusion, diversity and belonging action plans
  • Provide administrative support to the D&I team to include payment of invoices, inventory control, meeting/event set up.
  • Provide project coordination/support on multiple projects
  • Perform a variety of activities as a Specialist I in the Diversity & Inclusion area, as needed:
  • Act as the D&I liaison to Ball Networks (Employee Resource Groups) and update business leaders on upcoming events and/or needed support.
  • Assist and support the Aerospace D&I Advisory Council
  • Drive and develop all elements of the D&I Ally program
  • Make recommendations based on research and best practices in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and then collaborate on the development of content and products.
  • Prepare and create supporting online and physical D&I materials (workbooks, guides, handouts, resources, evaluations, etc.)
  • Facilitate and host online and in-person engagement opportunities, as needed and assigned.
  • Have fun solving problems and be a part of a rapidly expanding business in the Aerospace, Defense and Technology industry.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master’s or PhD, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Any D&I/DEI focused Certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, awareness of and commitment to contemporary issues of inclusion, social justice, diversity, access, and equity.
  • Must have intermediate or advanced computer skills such as Word, Excel, Windows, etc.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly to reach the desired outcomes preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to interact with all levels of teammates (e.g., senior leaders, early-career employees) preferred.
  • Ability to effectively conduct conversations on various D&I topics while creating an environment of trust, compassion, and understanding preferred.
  • Must have great attention to detail and good follow-up skills.
  • Must be able to use initiative when presenting solutions to management.
  • Must be a team player and able to work with consensus decision making.
  • Must be able to accomplish goals and objectives through influence and persuasion.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills preferred.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, team environment with tight deadlines preferred.
  • Ability to successfully partner with other Human Resources functions (Talent Acquisition, Talent & Organizational Development, Compensation, etc.).

Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $57,000 – $76,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
