Document Delivery Technician

What You’ll Do as a Document Delivery Technician:

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Office of Vehicle Services/Remittance Processing

Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

Operate mail handling equipment daily (i.e. Opex 7.5 Multi-Purpose Extractor, 72 high speed color scanner with drop feeder & extractor, AS7200, FalconRed) to scan documents & miscellaneous mail in order to prepare time sensitive, essential documents (e.g., vehicle registrations, handicap placards, dealer renewals, PISG applications, partial payments on reinstatement fees); Presort documents by zip code according to department(s) or U.S. Post Office Box numbers; Process mail manually by opening, folding or bursting mail that is too large for mail handling equipment or mail openers.

Operate computer terminal & various programs (e.g., TMS, Excel, Word) to enter & retrieve data; assist with opening &/or examine & sort returned undeliverable documents to verify accuracy &/or determines course of action; forward documents that require further processing; forward documents electronically; maintain records; Pick up & or unload mail trays (weights up to 40 lbs); Prepare mailing integrity of documents; Collate into various batches; Verify quantity & alphanumerical ranges.

Perform other specialized tasks related to mail handling; Sort, band, compile & record volumes of information; Verify computer reports; Research discrepancies; Process work rejected by the system requiring special handling; Set up equipment for operation, analyzing daily use & ensures efficient equipment supplies are on hand; Maintain quality control; Consult with on-site & off site service representatives to resolve problems.

Clean & maintain handling equipment daily; Operate shredder, sorting equipment; Maintain records on incoming & outgoing materials; Perform inventory on a regular basis; Prepare work for retention; Perform other related duties (e.g., answer telephone, maintain clean work area, train on use of new equipment used within the unit, fax, use copier).

Qualifications
12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in operating intelligent, high-speed mail processing equipment (e.g., intelligent mailing system, inserter, burster, folder, ink jet labeler, letter opener & letter extractor) & material handling equipment (e.g., pallet stacker, pallet jack, EZ Go cart); 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in general U.S. postal regulations.

Note: If position requires operation of state vehicle to pick up &/or deliver documents, applicant must also possess valid Ohio Driver’s License. If position requires operation of motorized vehicle regulated under Chapter 4506 of Revised Code, applicant must also possess valid Commercial Driver’s License.
