Job Description
Position Overview
The Manager of Donor Engagement plays a crucial role in advancing the organization’s fundraising efforts by effectively managing relationships with donors and strategically engaging them to support the organization’s mission. This role involves managing the donor pipeline, soliciting contributions for an assigned portfolio of approximately 35-45 managed prospects, and tracking fundraising progress in Salesforce. The Manager of Donor Engagement will also be responsible for supporting the organization’s Strategic Growth Campaign annual events strategy to enhance individual donor engagement and recognition. The Manager of Donor Engagement may also be involved in other fundraising-related activities, such as participating in donor cultivation events, engaging with donor advisory boards, and collaborating with the marketing and communications team to develop fundraising materials and campaigns. This position will report to the Managing Director of Development, and work closely with the Grants and External Impact Manager and the Director of Communications. The expanded list of responsibilities outlined below highlights the Manager of Donor Engagement’s comprehensive role in managing donor relationships, supporting fundraising activities, and ensuring adherence to gift acceptance policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Stewardship
- Manage the organization’s donor pipeline, ensuring prospective donors are identified, cultivated, and solicited effectively.
- Work closely with the fundraising team to develop strategies for moving donors through the donor pipeline, with a focus on major gift prospects.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date profiles of donors and prospects, including their giving history, interests, and engagement preferences.
- Qualify potential donors to assess their capacity and inclination to give at the $10,000+ level.
- Cultivate relationships with donors to deepen their engagement and understanding of the organization’s impact.
- Develop and execute solicitation strategies tailored to individual donors’ interests and preferences.
- Ensure timely and personalized stewardship efforts to recognize and thank donors for their contributions and impact.
- Conduct prospect research and develop comprehensive prospect profiles to guide solicitation strategies.
Campaign Support
- Support the execution of the organization’s annual campaign events strategy to showcase the organization’s impact, build relationships with donors, and solicit contributions.
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications to create compelling solicitation materials, including proposals, case statements, and impact reports, to support fundraising efforts.
- Play an active role in campaign activities by identifying prospective donors who align with the campaign’s goals and objectives.
- Participate in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts alongside other team members to build strong donor relationships and secure major gifts.
Reporting and Data Management
- Provide regular updates and reports on fundraising progress to key internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather relevant data and insights for accurate reporting on fundraising achievements and donor engagement metrics.
- Oversee the organization’s internal donor database and tracking systems to ensure accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions, communications, and contributions.
- Regularly review and clean donor data to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Utilize the donor tracking systems to monitor donor engagement levels, identify trends, and develop targeted fundraising strategies.
- Ensure that all donor interactions and gift acceptance align with the organization’s acceptance policies.
- Stay updated on any changes or updates to the policies and ensure their implementation across donor engagement activities.
- Monitor and track pledges made by donors, ensuring that they are fulfilled according to established timelines and gift policies.
- Coordinate with the finance or development operations team to ensure accurate and timely processing of gifts and pledge payments.

Qualifications
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Nonprofit Management, Communications, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in donor engagement, major gift solicitation, and stewardship within the nonprofit sector or a similar fundraising capacity.
- Strong understanding of fundraising best practices and strategies for cultivating and stewarding major donors.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and internal teams.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Results-driven with a demonstrated ability to meet fundraising targets and contribute to the overall fundraising goals of the organization.
- Proficiency in using fundraising software and CRM systems to manage donor data and track engagement activities.

Additional Information
Compensation
- Salaries at KPPS are competitive and equitable. The salary range for this position is $60,000 – $70,000 and is commensurate with experience.
