Job Summary
The Water Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading quality fitness programs designed to meet the needs of participants through educational and fun classes in a safe and welcoming environment, all while providing exceptional customer service.
MUST:
- Be available to teach Tuesday classes from 8:30am-9:15am
- Open to sub as needed
Responsibilities
- Leads motivating fitness classes according to the assigned schedule.
- Instructs class to the ability level of the participants.
- Designs and teaches choreography using music tempo, count and phrase.
- Provides guidance in safe, proper exercise techniques and group fitness components (i.e. warm-up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down).
- Works with participants to achieve their fitness goals and monitors participants’ perceived rate of exertion.
- Monitor and record class attendance.
- Assists patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for members and class participants.
- Works with other instructors to ensure all classes are fully staffed.
- Maintains water fitness equipment.
- Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one-year experience as a fitness and/or water fitness instructor
- Active participation in Continuing Education Credits (CEC or CEU)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Nationally Accredited Water Instructor Certification such as;
- Aquatics Exercise Association (AEA)
- United States Water Fitness Association (USWFA)
- American Council on Exercise (ACE)
- National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA)
- Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA)
- Aquatics Exercise Association (AEA)
- American Sports and Fitness Association (ASFA)
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
- Other certification specific to water fitness
