SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely and comfortably transport or assists in transporting participants and/or materials to and from Program and other locations as required according to a pre-arranged schedule. Correctly verifies client and destination and NEVER leaves participant unattended.
- Ensures that all appropriate safety measures are carried out while transporting participants.
- Reports participant behavioral changes or unusual incidents to appropriate professional staff and consults with other program staff as necessary.
- Safely operates monitors and provides preventative maintenance on vehicle and other transport equipment according to schedule and procedures, and performs or arranges for repairs when needed. Maintain interior and exterior of vehicle in a proper state of cleanliness and readiness.
- Organizes transportation duties/routes and other activities by prioritizing and scheduling to ensure that activities are completed in an orderly fashion within established deadlines.
- Attends to participant’s needs during trips to and from the Program in a friendly, courteous and caring manner, engaging in conversation appropriate for their needs and situations. Communicates in courteous and friendly fashion with caregivers
- Listens attentively to participant’s, caregiver’s and others to gain an accurate understanding of their needs, and courteously communicates instructions and other information to them, resulting in a shared understanding of the intended message while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
- Creates and maintains, through personal involvement, an atmosphere of warmth, caring and personal interest resulting in a level of participation that is appropriate and positive as evidenced by the participant and caregivers’ satisfaction.
- Maintains current Massachusetts driver’s license with safe driving record.
- Operates vehicle in compliance with all prescribed speed and all safety procedures and encourages passengers to do likewise, resulting in no preventable injury or accident.
- Notifies Program Manager or appropriate person immediately of any injury, accident or situation requiring Manager’s attention.
- Documents and maintains travel log, vehicle maintenance records, and/or other required information in a neat, accurate, and up-to-date manner according to established procedures and in a ready access for use by appropriate personnel.
- Performs any other program/agency related duties as assigned by supervisor.
