DUIP Clinical Social Worker

Overview

The salary range for this position is $5,373.33 per month ($64,479.96 per year) and is non-negotiable.

The primary mission of the Center for Alcohol & Drug Studies & Services (the Center) Driving Under the Influence Program (DUIP) is to help reduce the incidence and prevalence of driving under the influence and the negative consequences of this behavior for our community and its residents. Under the guidelines established by the State of California and the County of San Diego, the DUI Program provides the highest quality of educational and counseling services to those who have been convicted of violating the DUI laws and assists participants in identifying and seeking solutions to their own alcohol and other drug problems.

Under general direction of the Executive Director, the Clinical Social Worker serves as a lead staff member demonstrating knowledge in Title IX DUIP application, provides clinical guidance and consultation services to the DUI program counseling and administrative staff and manages client caseloads.

Responsibilities

The Clinical Social Worker is responsible for but not limited to:

Caseload Management 75%

Manages caseloads consisting of clients who are dually diagnosed with substance use disorders and medical or mental illnesses. Oversees the clinical referrals and assessment scheduling via the On-System; develops and/or reviews complex assessment and individual care plans and supports client efforts to adherence. Interprets and consults with appropriate agencies providing care to clients and serves as client advocate with mental health service agencies. Develops agency interventions based on assessment results, including consultation with community-based medical and mental health providers.

Interviews clients and performs psychosocial assessments in conjunction with counselor referrals. Monitors and documents progress toward specific goals and objectives; performs crisis intervention services as needed to manage relapse risk. Collaborates with counseling staff to develop clinical plans for high-risk clientele which may include those with co-occurring disorders, consults with primary counseling staff regarding client concerns and needs and facilitates on-going monitoring of client progress; analyzes psychological and social factors that may interfere with a client’s ability to benefit from the program

Other Duties & Responsiblities as Assigned 25%

Develops and presents in-service training to counseling staff

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • The equivalent of three years of professional social work or clinical or counseling psychology performing case work and /or assessment services; a master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A Doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • ACSW or MFI registered

Preferred Qualifications and Special Skills

  • Profession of Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Work or Marriage and Family therapist
  • Experience working with diverse populations, ie Military
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Professional experience working in a DUI setting/program
