You have completed a BS in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology plus 0 -2 years of engineering experience. In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 year engineering degree. You have strong technical problem-solving abilities, strong interpersonal skills, excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills and are ready to join Framatome and help deliver clean, safe energy and advance nuclear technology. You may have also acquired the following skills:
- Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study
- Strong desire for the applicant to have the ability to design specialized remote or field service tooling
- Able to prepare cost and schedule input, and monitor both throughout the design effort
- Ability to identify problems/risks in the design and fabrication processes, resolve, and report to management
- Medically and physically qualified to work in a radiological contaminated area at commercial nuclear facilities and power plants worldwide
- Able to gain unescorted access at commercial nuclear power plants (subject to background investigation)
- Electro-Mechanical background
- Strong background in CAD using a solids modeling platform. The department uses Pro-E/Creo, but will train an individual that is already experienced in other solid modeling packages such as Solid Works or Mechanical Desktop.
- Demonstrated the ability to produce shop-ready drawings, and work with machine shops to bring designs to implementation.
- Experience in a production environment related to specialized tooling design is desired.
- Strong interpersonal skills, as well as strong written and verbal communications.
- Able to use standard Microsoft Office products.

As a Early Career Mechanical Engineer in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Fuel Field Services Business Line in the Fuel Business Unit. Your work will include specification, design, testing and qualification of fuel inspection related equipment tools and products. The position includes troubleshooting, diagnosis, modification and support of maintenance programs. Also, will assume responsibility for a tooling group to support assigned field product function (such as post irradiation inspection services, fuel reconstitution and repair, sipping, etc.) as well as machine shop interface for tool/component production. The individual will also contribute to a variety of other emergent projects and support onsite fuel inspection and repair deployments as required. This position requires up to 25% travel. Your Total Rewards Package
The range of base salary for the position is between $61,000 – $79,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
