Description
Under the direction of the Economic Services Unit Supervisor, the Economic Services Caseworker will interview clients in order to obtain required information to determine eligibility for Economic Services benefits. They will complete initial applications, verify the information provided by the client, and complete scheduled program reviews. The Economic Services Caseworker must be able to explain program(s) requirements and options and refer clients to other program services as appropriate.
The Economic Services Caseworker must be human services oriented and possess the ability to interact well with co-workers, clients, and the general public. This caseworker must respond to disasters as needed in accordance with Montgomery County DSS policy in the event of a natural or man-made disaster or upon the declaration of a state of emergency by the Montgomery County Emergency Management Office.
This position is non-exempt.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of customer service/public contact experience to include interviewing, explaining information, compiling data, and the performing difficult mathematical tasks or an Associate’s Degree in Human Services or a related degree program.
Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
