eDiscovery Counsel (Location Open)

Counsel will be responsible for eDiscovery relating to all RSM legal matters. Counsel will work closely with in-house legal teams and business teams throughout the Firm to guide and advise on eDiscovery best practices and guidelines. This includes working across all RSM lines of business for records policies, maintenance, development, and implementation of technology. Counsel will have oversight of a team of eDiscovery specialist and direct collections on complex litigation matters, subpoenas and preservation requests. Candidates with direct litigation experience are preferred.

Skills:

  • Supervising all aspects of eDiscovery to support RSM litigation, including electronic document preservation, collection, and review.
  • Advising on legal and technological concerns relating to eDiscovery.
  • Assisting in relevancy of scope of discovery with RSM in-house counsel and outside counsel (e.g., custodians, search terms, date ranges).
  • Supervising and Managing retention limits on the GC eDiscovery platforms.
  • Maintaining subject matter expertise on legal and regulatory obligations relating to records management.
  • Advising and providing support to the business stakeholders as it relates to compliance with document retention obligations and eDiscovery policies across all IT platforms and technology.
  • Manage and guide the eDiscovery GC litigation in-house specialists and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Refine and create standard ESI protocols. Review and update protocols, training materials and workflows.
  • Assist with analyzing and testing new software and new versions of software.
  • Provide briefings to General Counsel and other Counsel as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate required that must be actively licensed and in good standing with a state bar.
  • 5+ years of experience practicing law, ligation and eDiscovery skills required.
  • Knowledge of legal matter management and project management skills.
  • Technical and working knowledge of eDiscovery platforms.
  • Experienced communicator with a variety of audiences including legal teams, technical teams and company leadership management teams.
  • Strong aptitude for technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Thorough knowledge of eDiscovery and litigation lifecycle.
  • Must be familiar with current versions of Microsoft Office Suite.
