We’re looking for someone to join our team as a System Director, Risk & Insurance Services who:
Essential Functions:
- Oversees System’s risk financing program and maintains documentation of such. Provides oversight of analytical, technical and risk financing tasks in securing and documenting coverage of risks through insurance policies/risk financing programs. Obtains and evaluates quotes and insurance coverage for more than 25 separate insurance programs for Adventist Health’s overall operations. Researches, evaluates and makes recommendations regarding current and state-of-the art trends in risk financing, loss control and claims management strategies where necessary. Provides consultation and technical advice on insurance issues relating to new programs, contracts and affiliation agreements. Oversees unit’s RMIS and data management including statistical trending of losses, analysis of patterns and incurred costs. Communicates coverage and requirements of coverage within System. Identifies, analyzes and makes recommendations for handling underwriting risks to the AHS/West HPL/GL Trust Committee.
- Recommends endorsement wording to limit or modify HPL/GL Trust exposures when appropriate.
- Oversees the collection and compilation of facility values and exposure data.
- Oversees the self-funded pooling programs. Oversees the development and allocation of risk charges to operating entities. Reviews contracts for indemnification and insurance language as requested. Supervises support staff.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
You’ll be successful with the following qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, insurance and risk management or an equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Master’s degree: Preferred
Work Experience:
- Seven years experience in risk financing and insurance managing hospital/health care system related programs, or insurance industry experience managing hospital/health care related insuring programs: Preferred
- Five years leadership experience: Preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU): Preferred
- Associate in Risk Management (ARM): Preferred
- Certified Risk Manager (CRM): Preferred
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM): Preferred
- RIMS Fellow issued by the Global Risk Management Institute (RF): Preferred

The estimated base pay for this position is $139,004 to $208,505. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through years of experience, differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
