The Education and Career Development Specialist is a talented, highly motivated, and relatable team player who has a passion for developing people and educational programs. This leader will empower recovery program women to reach new educational and career goals on the path towards healing and self-sufficiency by helping them develop personalized education plans and overseeing formative curriculum and software. The individual will also build a team of high capacity tutors who will assist in this process and effectively network within the community to form employment placement options and resources for graduates.
Responsibilities

- Assess students skills and assist with goal setting and individualized program plans.
- Test and evaluate students performance.
- Oversee Career Development and Exploring Gods Calling classes, and the program internship.
- Motivate students to perform to the best of their abilities, discover their strengths, inspire them to dream, and envision a future of meaningful work and opportunity.
- Assist students in becoming job-ready and securing job placements.
- Network with businesses and organizations to find internship and job placement opportunities.
- Assist with the job search process, resume writing and interviewing skills.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to tutor and mentor students.
- Hold students accountable to meeting goals, leading students to self-evaluations when needed.
- Attend and participate in all Mission, Division and Department meetings and trainings, as required.
- Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Four years of higher education from an accredited institution in a related field or equivalent experience.is required
- Minimum of two years of experience working with disadvantaged populations required, specifically in the areas of chronic homelessness, substance addiction, criminal history, inconsistent or negative work history and/or long-term dependency on public assistance programs.
- Experience strongly preferred in the following areas: adult education, volunteer management, partnership creation, training and development, recruitment, employment and education preparation.
- Possess a valid Washington State Drivers License and be able to meet the standards of the Mission driver criteria required, including but not limited to:
- Clean driving record
- No current suspensions or revocations
- At least 21 years of age

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time in a temperature-controlled environment. Occasionally will stand, balance, twist, stoop, kneel and reach with hands/arms. Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds and walks, use stairways to climb to multiple floors within the company. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
