Note: This is a grant-funded position. Funding for this position is contingent upon the terms of the grant and is currently funded for up to 52 weeks (1 year from start date).
This positions are funded under the WTCS Core Industries Grant. Education Assistants in this area specifically provide support for Manufacturing, Constriction, and Transportation students during their General Education semesters, when they are taking Science, English and etc. courses.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative (60%); in support of the Truck Driving Program as follows
- Create and maintain spreadsheets as well as perform data entry
- Complete, order, monitor, and report on Inventory. Create purchase orders for needed equipment and supplies while working with Faculty and Dean to identify needed inventory and supplies
- Communication via telephone and email with vendors, students, and staff
- Recruit, track and communicate with prospective students
- Assist with pre-admissions processes
Hands On (35%); in support of the Truck Driving Program as follows:
- Stage equipment for class (e.g. cones, tools, and trucks) as appropriate.
- Maintain and coordinate equipment.
- Assist students with assignments, projects, reports, credentials, and activities.
- Participates in in-service training, workshops and other educational activities as required or assigned.
- Assume responsibility for the maintenance of the spaces assigned; establish, and enforce regulations related to the equipment used.
- Supports specific departments in providing smooth delivery of semester startup packets and instructional materials to improve service and efficiency for students and faculty.
- Works closely with student services to understand possible learning needs and helps create adaptive materials in conjunction with the instructor.
- Provides alternative support for specific academic skills, consistent with classroom instruction and in conjunction with Faculty instruction if needed.
- Encourages learning and study skill behaviors that help students to accomplish their academic goals
- Assists with makeup testing and proctoring services for MATC students
- Updates inventory and other data; prepares relevant reports.
- Acts as a liaison between students and faculty.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division.
Qualifications
Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
- Associate Degree and seven (7) years of related
- Bachelor Degree and four (4) years of related experience*
*Related experience must consist of the following:
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and research tools including Word, Excel, and internet applications is required.
- Knowledge of instructional and other procedures as related to truck driving including driving and maintenance.
- Ability to work with students from diverse social and economic backgrounds.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with students, staff, teachings, internal and external repair services, and the general public
Preferred experience:
- Preferred candidates will hold a current valid commercial driver’s license in good standing.
- Experience in organizing the maintenance of tractor trailers is desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Hours/Location:
- In-person assignment at our Oak Creek Campus
- Noon – 8 PM, 5 days a week; Friday’s flexible ( 8-5 pm or Noon – 8 pm)
Hourly Rate:
Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2023/2024 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.

Dental Insurance
- MATC offers a group dental plan through Delta Dental.
- Upon selection, the dental insurance plan coverage begins the first of the month following start date.
- Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and has an orthodontic benefit for dependents up to age 19.
Vision Insurance
- MATC offers a group vision plan through Superior Vision..Upon selection, the vision insurance plan coverage begins the first of the month following start date.
- Plan covers eye exam, frames, lenses and contact lenses.
Group Life Insurance
- MATC offers group term life insurance benefits through Madison National Life Insurance Company effective the first of the month of start date and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is based upon the employee’s annual earnings rounded to the higher $1,000.00. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.
- Supplemental Life Insurance is also available at group rates for employees, spouses, and dependents to purchase.
Long-Term Disability
- MATC offers long-term disability insurance through Madison National Life Company after 30 days of employment and is fully paid for by the College. Benefits provided are equal to 66 2/3% of base monthly earnings.

- MATC offers two types of Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA):

- Dependent Care FSA
Retirement Savings
- Regular full-time employees of MATC who are hired for greater than 12 months become members of the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS)’s pension system as of day one of employment. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.8%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.8% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee’s behalf. Contribution rates are subject to change annually as set by the State.
- In addition to the WRS pension account, employees may enroll in other optional retirement savings plan such as a 403(b) account or a 457 account on a pre-tax or post-tax basis.
Sick Leave
- MATC offers employees a generous sick leave plan per year.
- Each employee may accumulate up to 165 days of full sick leave with an unlimited accumulation of half pay sick leave.
Vacation
- MATC offers a vacation policy to employees for the purpose of rest and relaxation.
- Vacation is earned at a generous rate each year of employment. (Not available for Instructors)
Paid & Flexible (Floating) Holidays
- MATC offers 12 paid holidays for non-Faculty positions and 7 paid holidays for Faculty positions.
- MATC provides two flexible (floating) holidays per employee per year. (Not available for Instructors).
Tuition Benefits:
- Employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement and waiver after completing probationary period.
- Amount allowed per fiscal year is 18 credits at MATC or $1,400 at other accredited institutions.
