Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Education Services, the Educational Service Coordinator facilitates the planning and implementation of all aspects of math/science or ELA/Social Science for the Lake County Regional Office of Education. The Lake County Educational Services division provides professional development and technical assistance to 50 districts in Lake County, Illinois.
Essential Functions
- The coordinator works with the local school districts to develop and execute plans to improve the teaching skills and programs of school districts.
- This includes meeting with local school district personnel on an individual or group basis, conducting need assessments, arranging for and delivering training, evaluating training programs, and conducting follow-up consultation and/or training.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required
- Serve as a leader and general resource person with matters relating to math and science.
- Collaborate with district leaders to integrate math and science best practices into institutional practices that influence teaching.
- Support Lake County school districts in ensuring that curriculum and assessments are aligned to the rigor of the Illinois State standards.
- Knowledge of planning and evaluation in education, knowledge of effective staff development and experience with School Improvement Processes.
- Attend meetings and ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of best practices and new legislation along with any requirements as needed.
- Ability to express self in written and verbal form.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members in joint planning sessions.
- Ability to work unsupervised on assigned projects.
- Keeps records and data required by the State and the Regional Office of Education.
Education and other Requirements
- Professional Educators License (PEL) with a General Administrative or Principal Endorsement Required
- Math and/or science degree or endorsement preferred
- ELA/Social Science degree or endorsement preferred
- Minimum of five years successful teaching experience in a K-12 setting
- Experience in guiding the analysis of data to drive improvement in practice preferred
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate with diverse groups across multiple departments and organizations to achieve convergence of strategy and practice
- Some experience in presenting workshops or working with adults in an instructional setting preferred
Supplemental Information
Physical Requirements:
- Requires mainly office work, involving standing or walking some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis, and high dexterity in operating office equipment, including a keyboard, phone, copier, etc.
- The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision and the ability to hear and speak to understand, respond to and build relationships with a diverse clientele.
