NV5 is looking for a Project Manager that will lead Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) projects nationwide, primarily California. The ideal candidate will lead the pre-development and development phases of projects from feasibility through construction. This position requires electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and EV supply equipment (EVSE) project experience, preferably with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project experience. A successful Project Manager is well-versed in leading multi-disciplinary teams in planning, cost estimating, engineering and design, survey, permitting, construction, and utility coordination on complex multi-site projects for local and national clients. Solid written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Project Managers at this level are responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating with project teams to execute detailed phases of the engineering and design work. This position requires industry experience in this rapidly growing market and direct experience with similar scope project management roles. The Project Manager is the primary contact for clients, contractors, and other professionals, serving as a project leader and is expected to effectively coordinate the team’s work to ensure the highest quality product is on time and on budget.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project management to lead the civil, electrical, and structural engineering teams in the delivery of EV/EVSE infrastructure including planning, design, commissioning, and consulting on complex projects.
  • Demonstrate strong electric vehicle charging experience including feasibility assessment and cost estimating.
  • Collaborate across verticals and supporting teams to enable smooth project phase transitions.
  • Working knowledge of other renewable technologies that may be integrated into projects such as battery energy storage systems (BESS), Microgrids, and Solar PV.
  • Proactive, coordination of engineering and design activities to comply with budgets and schedules; identify departures or issues early to meet client expectations for project excellence, budget, and schedule.
  • Coordinate overseas resources for drafting support as appropriate.
  • Participate in training and mentoring junior project staff, as appropriate.
  • Provide overall package quality assurance checks on deliverables. Note that each engineering discipline is responsible for technical quality assurance and quality control.
  • Participate in business development activities including preparation of proposals for new work.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Analyze and solve operational problems by leveraging tools such as Smartsheet.
  • May prepare addendums, proposal requests and change orders; initiate additional service requests and coordinate with the team to collect applicable information for client submittal.
  • May prepare Schedule of Values (SOV) or Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates at various stages of the EV charging project.
  • Interpret and apply client, company, and project requirements, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, such as General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collaborative team environment and develop strong client relationships.
  • Project management or other experience in the renewable energy industry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues and clients.
  • Proficient with MS Office software including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in budgeting, scheduling, planning EV/EVSE projects.
  • Experience using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project scheduling software.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Consulting, Project Management or Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working on EV charging projects.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience designing solar PV, BESS, microgrid systems; EVSE a plus.
  • Experience with electrical grid interconnections, utility interactions.

Metrics:

  • Evaluation is based, in part, on the accurate and timely project execution.
  • Attends in-house seminars and educational opportunities outside of the offices.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Professional Engineer, LEED Accredited Professional or other relevant certifications is a plus.
  • Master’s degree in relevant field such as General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Business Administration is a plus.
  • PMP certification preferred.

The pay range for this California position is $125,000- $155,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
