Overview
Responsible for creating overhead and underground electrical distribution drawings. This position is expected to function under minimal supervision. This position is responsible for understanding and completing drawings in accordance with client standards and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems, including the preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates.
- Perform field evaluation of proposed installation sites as required.
- Create Bill of Materials for all electrical components and release to purchasing.
- Design distribution projects with neatness and a small margin for error utilizing software such as PLS-CADD, O-Calc, Pull Planner, and AutoCAD.
- Conduct electrical design review meetings and provide minutes.
- Interface with project management and project engineers during the design phase.
- Support manufacturing with fabrication drawings and other related information as required.
- Inspect electrical panels/enclosures with department drawings.
- Produce “As Built” drawings.
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with the project manager, client, and other stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or relevant experience.
- Experience designing with AutoCAD and or PLS-CADD.
- Experience with pull calculations, demand estimating, and volt/drop and flicker calculations.
- Basic knowledge of Electrical Distribution Systems.
- Knowledge of GO95 & GO128.
- Ability to read and understand One-Line Diagrams.
- Minimum 1 year of utility distribution design experience with utility or consulting engineering firm.
- Prefer 1-2 years of experience field noting and electrical distribution drafting/design work.
- Experience with SDG&E standards and processes preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills combined with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Basic communication skills both written and oral are expected.
- Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills are required.
- Must be able to effectively discuss, explain and coordinate designs with drafters and other disciplines cross-functionally.
- Must be able to function effectively both as a member of a team and as an individual contributor.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted with minimal supervision.
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to work under stress and meet tight deadlines.
- Must be capable of effectively and accurately working on several projects at one time.

Wage Data Per State Requirements
Salary range for this position is $75,000 – 100,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
