Job Summary

Ultimately responsible and accountable for the quality and availability of information for the Electric System Operation Center’s (ESOC) Energy Management System (EMS) responsible for the safe and reliable operation of PSE&G’s Bulk Electric System (BES). With strong emphasis on the electric power system’s advanced applications Network Analysis Subsystem (NAS) and the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) in a mission critical, real-time 24×7, 365 days per year operations environment.

Job Responsibilities

Consult at a high level by providing electric network modeling, network design and analysis expertise in the maintenance and operation of various EMS advanced applications.

Must possess commanding technical knowledge of the Electric Transmission and Distribution systems in any of the following areas; Network Analysis Subsystem (NAS), State Estimation (SE), Contingency Analysis (CA),

Load Flow analysis, Network Topology Modeling and Design, Intelligent alarming, real-time and relational databases.

Ability to evaluate and analyze complex technical issues and changing client requirements, to work with various vendors to develop and prepare short-term and long-term solutions involving EMS Advanced Applications with regulatory requirements and guidelines for the safe and reliable operation of PSE&G’s Bulk Electric System.

Must have practical working knowledge and understanding of Linux and Windows Operating systems as well as various field equipment such as RTUs (Remote Terminal Unit), Data Concentrators and IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Device).

Ability to supervise, train and provide technical expertise to other associates, operations personnel in addressing complex issues.

Assist with the EMS replacement project for engineering and consulting services related to the implementation and commissioning of the new EMS system .

Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls, Physical and Cyber Security as per NERC CIP to meet management and all regulatory requirements.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor degree in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with minimum 6 years of relevant experience in EMS and Power Systems.
  • Practical working knowledge of the Linux Operating System.
  • Demonstrated experience with Transmission/Distribution systems, substation automation, SCADA systems or similar industry exposure.
  • Must possess the ability to read electric one-line diagrams and schematics
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • On call 24/7 hours to assist during system emergencies

Desired:

  • Advanced Degree in Electric or Power Engineering
  • Advanced knowledge of the LINUX operating environment
  • Prior experience with any vendor’s EMS/SCADA systems and vendors
