Summary

Coordinate construction projects in Electric Distribution.

Essential Functions

  • Design, prepare, and issue cost estimates, drawings, and specifications for major projects;
  • Interact with customers, contractors, and consultants to answer questions, resolve conflicts, develop design solutions; select, size, and specify electrical materials and equipment, including non-standard equipment;
  • Monitor, forecast and procure materials and equipment;
  • Creation and maintenance of specifications;
  • Perform outage restoration during emergency call-out;
  • Simultaneously coordinate multiple large projects;
  • Work with other departments, utilities and consultants to complete major tasks;
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

Completion of an associate degree in engineering technology or a related field with an additional twelve or more years of experience in electric utility construction or estimating, including supervisory experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

Valid current driver’s license

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • The principles and procedures of electric utility construction and estimating.
  • Basic computer operation;
  • The principles and procedures of electric utility operations and loads;
  • Advances knowledge of entire utility system in order to perform restoration during emergence call-out.

Ability to:

  • Supervise the work of others.
  • Communicate effectively with others.
  • Prepare engineering drawings and construction cost estimates.
  • Analyze, select and specify electric equipment and components.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently stand and walk during the shift;
  • Occasionally climb stairs, ladders, and inclined surfaces;
  • Frequently bend during the shift;
  • Frequently kneel during the shift;
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds;
  • Frequently push and pull objects;
  • Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees;
  • Frequently rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing;
  • Place arms above, at, and below shoulder height;
  • Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
