Position Summary
ELECTRICIAN
Facilities Management
Full Time
Starting Wage: $21.81 per hour/$24.18 after successful completion of probationary period
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain all aspects of electrical services and distribution on campus
- Perform work to install fixtures, conduit, motors and other electrical equipment
- Assemble, install, test and maintain building and equipment electrical systems including lighting fixtures, heaters, motors, frequency drives and controls
- Diagnose, locate and repair electrical systems and components including power wiring, fuses, fire alarm systems, lighting, heating and refrigeration control equipment, various types of shop equipment and electrical distribution systems (up to and including 13.8 kV)
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment, repair or replacement
- Maintain a valid drivers license
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, supplemented by training or coursework in the electrical trade
- Possess a valid drivers license
- Ability to work in inclement weather and must live within 30 minutes travel time from the University
- Progressive work experience with commercial fire alarm systems
- Progressive work experience in analyzing and interpreting wiring diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics
- Progressive work experience in diagraming and using test equipment to troubleshoot electrical circuits
- Ability to analyze a situation and make frequent technical decisions based on specification and electrical codes
- Ability to perform work involving considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
- Ability to work at heights existing on campus and work in close and confined spaces for extended periods of time with or without accommodations
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
