Why does the job exist?
This is a part time, evening and weekend position. Shifts include Monday Friday 4:00pm-9:00pm and or weekends.
The chosen candidate will provide shift supervision for the New Mexico Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. This position will also conduct telephone interviews of many survey participants pursuant to written scripts and quality standards for a survey of 6000+ respondents annually.
How does it get done?
The successful applicant will train new employees and assign and oversee work of telephone surveyors. The position will also conduct public health behavioral and other surveillance, by completing a portion of the calls made annually. the survey collects uniform, state-based data on preventive health practices and behaviors as well as risk behaviors.

The citizens of NM, the Department of Health, and other Executive agencies which use these data for program planning and evaluation.
Ideal Candidate
two years of experience conducting telephone interviews.
ability to accurately ask questions and record associated responses.
ability to use computer and associated technology to ask questions and record responses.
ability to fluently converse in English, and Spanish.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and three (3) years experience in customer service, office administration, government assistance programs such as welfare, unemployment benefits, social security benefits and/or public housing. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.
For utilization at the Department of Veterans Services only:
Three (3) years of active duty service in the Armed Forces will substitute for the required experience listed above. Hiring preference will be given to Veterans of the Armed Forces.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel with the occasional overnight stay is required.
