The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is looking for an Entry Level Emergency Planning Engineer. This position will be at our Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) which is located in Idaho Falls, ID.

Duties may include development and execution of site evaluation exercises, outreach with outside agencies, managing emergency response organization qualification program and records, conduct and develop training for responders, manage emergency equipment to ensure constant ready for use status, and managing emergency plans and procedures. This position requires interaction with senior staff members and outside regulators.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor’s degree in technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous Radiation worker qualification
  • Emergency Response experience or participation as a responder
  • Self-assessment experience

Pay Range

$64,500- $96,700 annually

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
