The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking candidates interested in human resources to apply for Employee Records Supervisor.

The position organizes and supervises employment processing and records management in Human Resources Services (HRS) division for certificated and classified employees.

The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following

Knowledge:

  • Relevant provisions of the California Education Code, California Labor Code, Fair Labor Standards Act, and collective bargaining agreements
  • Employment eligibility verification regulations and procedures (I-9)
  • Labor relations principles and processes
  • LACOE Board and Human Resources Policies
  • Personnel Commission Rules
  • Microsoft Office Suite and video conference software/applications
  • Enterprise-wide human resources and payroll information systems
  • Fundamental concepts of employment laws, codes, and regulations, including EEO, FLSA, FMLA, and Cal/OSHA

Required Education and ExperienceEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Three years of experience in transactional human resources services, such as managing employee records, overseeing employment processing, implementing human resources work processes, and researching changes to relevant laws and regulations, including one year in a lead capacity.

Equivalency Provision: An associate’s degree or equivalent college units (60 semester or 90 quarter) from a recognized college or university accredited by a regional accreditation association may substitute for one year of the required general experience. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, human resources, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of the classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation may substitute for two years of the required general experience. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Additional Requirements: A bachelor’s degree from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation is preferred. Certification as a Human Resources Professional from the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or similar professional association is desired. A valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between jobs sites is required.

Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of Microsoft Office Exam, Performance Exam and Structured Interview.
