This is a remote position open to any qualified applicant in the Unites States.
Responsibilities Reporting to the Employee Relations Management Lead, the Employee Relations Advisor (ER Advisor) provides advice, support, and resolution to Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP) and business leaders on a broad range of escalated employment issues including HR policy interpretation, policy violation, disciplinary performance management, employee discipline and misconduct, and employment related conflict resolution. Works in partnership with the Legal team to provide input regarding risk and compliance while ensuring legal and HR policy compliance. Develops recommendations and appropriate course of action in ER issues to ensure consistency related to consequence management.
Employee Relations Issue Management
• Act as the primary point of contact for HR Business Partners and Consequence Management Team to provide advice and counsel for employee relations issues.
• End-to-end management of Tier 2 employee relations and compliance issues; consistent approach and solutions to mitigate risk and liability.
• Conduct internal investigations into reported allegations such as harassment, discrimination, retaliation, violations to HR policies, and other Employment and Legal matters.
• Follow best practice investigation techniques and provide timely recommendations on effective remedial action to address issues.
• Recommend appropriate level of disciplinary and/or remedial actions.
• Provide advice and guidance on matters relating to the ADA, Title VII, ADEA, FLSA, and other related Legal matters.
• Utilize tracking systems to log, track and manage cases.
• Compile and generate investigation related documentation (i.e., Investigation Reports, Issue Summaries, etc.).
• Provide timely and thorough updates to the appropriate parties.
• Comply with service level agreements.
• Collaborate with other departments and COEs, as necessary and appropriate.
• All other duties, as assigned.
HR Policies and Employment Laws
• Proactively stay up-to-date on trends and developments within Employee Relations, HR and the Industry, proactively providing ideas and information. Work to enhance the capability of self and team.
• Review and analyze to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and identify trends.
Special Projects / Program Management
• Support and implement specialized projects, or components of larger cross-functional projects, to enable appropriate changes in HR policy or practice.
Required Qualifications
• 5 + years of HR related work experience with primary focus on employee relations issue management, conducting and managing investigations, and consequence management.
• Knowledge and understanding of US employment laws and regulations, and employment related agencies.
• Excellent communications skills – written and verbal.
• Excellent email management skills.
• Experience working with HR information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 2016.
Preferred Qualifications
• Centralized Employee Relations issue management work experience.
• Employee Relations and/or Compliance case management system.
• Virtual/remote work experience.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $66,500 – $112,500, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
