Employer Service Specialist – Potter

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides high level technical support related to a variety of Human Resources functions. Serves as back-up to the Payroll/Benefits functions. Performs specific duties related to Payroll, Benefits, Leave Management, Workers Comp, Performance Development, New Hire configurations in HRIS and Employee Separations. Acts as an information/guidance resource to Supervisors and staff. Has access to protected healthcare information (PHI) or confidential identifiable information (CII), both paper and electronic, as necessary, to perform related job duties and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Payroll

Assists and serves as back up for payroll functions.

Benefits Administration

  • Benefit Enrollments & Terminations
  • Processes benefit bill and reconciliations in a timely manner
  • Unum STD claims support

Other

  • Assists with Leaves Administration
  • Assists with Performance Development maintenance and tracking
  • Process Employee separations in HRIS
  • Conducts and reports on exit interviews
  • Assists with employee payroll, timecard and benefit questions
  • Assists with HRIS reporting
  • Assists with Workers Compensation
  • Assists with audits
  • Processes Unemployment claims
  • Social Security
  • Participates in New Employee Welcome Meetings (twice per month)
  • Advocates for the values of a diverse population within CHSW and the community
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Progressive knowledge of human resources and personnel procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Progressive knowledge on payroll and benefits best practices
  • Ability to apply local, federal, and state law requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively with diverse populations and all levels of personnel.
  • Handle confidential matters with a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to consistently use independent judgement and discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness, exercise good judgment while working independently, organizing, and prioritizing individual and departmental responsibilities
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Proficient with Excel
  • Proficient in using HRIS
  • Must possess strong human relations skills to communicate and work within a culturally diverse work environment and community

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This job is performed in a professional office environment or remotely. The following list is representative of the work environment employees encounter while performing the essential functions of this job:

WORKING REMOTELY:

Working remotely is a benefit of Children’s Home Society of Washington’s flexible workplace, but remote work cannot be offered for all positions. Some positions require daily presence in the office. Remote work arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based upon business needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop and kneel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years of human resources or related experience.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • Successful completion of a drivers check if position requires driving on a regular basis (at least three times per week) or drives consumers. Must not have more than two driving incidents within the last three years

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field desirable

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, and/or SHRM-SCP certification
  • UKG experience

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

The salary range for this position is $62,776 – $89,129. The starting salary range for this position is $62,776 – $69,365 DOE for external candidates.

Employees will also receive 10 days of vacation leave each year, one personal day each year, and will accrue one sick day per month (pro-rated for part-time employees).
