Position Summary

Plan, direct, manage and oversee the activities and operations of an assigned energy and sustainability division within the General Services Department, including the 3% for Energy Set-aside CIP program; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies; provide advice and recommendations on energy projects and studies; coordinate with city, state and federal agencies on the application for and use of state and federal monies; and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to higher-level management staff. Advise on energy efficiency for assets managed by the General Services Department. Support development and implementation of long-term plans for implementation of energy efficiency projects. Cross-promote other program offerings, to include HVAC, electrical, and mechanical industrial process equipment upgrades. Work with other Division facility managers and engineering teams to understand technical specifications, engineering calculations and cost estimates for energy efficiency projects. Develop concepts/ideas in energy efficiency to be apply to General Service’s assets.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Health or Science; Energy Resource Management; Architecture (with a concentration in environmental design and sustainability); Civil or Environmental Engineering or Sustainability; and

Six (6) years experience in management of environmental or sustainability programs; and

To include five (5) years supervisory experience.
Certified Energy Manager certificate is preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
