Department Overview
The Community Rebuild is responsible for providing restoration or improvement of existing gas service and distribution gas and electric facilities for both residential and commercial gas customers fire damaged areas. The Community Rebuild Team also designs provides engineering and design support to gas construction personnel, for both internal PG&E and Contracted Construction resources, during day-to-day operations.
Position Summary
This position is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) and subject to collective bargaining.
This position requires a 24-month lock-in period for new hires into estimating positions from outside ESC, per LOA 16-23 ESC
PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $45.13 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.
Job Responsibilities
- Utilize organizational skills to manage project workload from inception through construction completion.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and civil construction drawings for additions or improvements to the gas distribution system in such a nature that the plans and methods embody existing standards, specifications, rules, tariffs, and regulations.
- Perform calculations including, but not limited to, meter sizing, regulator sizing, and service sizing.
- Initiate right-of-way procedures, licenses, permits, etc. and perform other work as required to prepare the estimate in final form.
- Perform customer to agency contact, project coordination.
- Perform Form B joint trench excavation cost preparation.
- Create Joint Trench Composite drawings.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Possess high school diploma or GED equivalent and must obtain an Autodesk Certified User (ACU) certificate within the first 12 months of hire, or a two-year technical degree in Drafting, or a mutually agreed-upon alternate qualification. Preferred qualification: Bachelor of Science Degree (BS). per LOA 19-13-ESC
- Must have a valid Class C California Driver’s License or ability to obtain by first day of employment.
Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil or related engineering field or any combination of training, education, and work experience
- 2 years of experience with AutoCAD (2009 or later version)
- Civil 3D experience
- Intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with web-based software (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc)
- 1 year of experience using SAP
- 1 year of utility operations knowledge and experience
- Joint Utility Trench experience
- Civil construction knowledge
- Underground utility experience
- Plan & Profile experience
