Job Description

Puget Sound Energy’s Application Department is looking for a Senior Application Development Analyst to join our ServiceNow Platform team. In this role, you will develop and maintain applications on our ServiceNow platform, with a special emphasis on Operations Management, including Configuration Item Discovery, CDSM Modeling, Service Mapping, and Event Management. This is a great opportunity to contribute across the full breadth of IT planning, development, operations, monitoring, and data analytics, supporting our entire IT department in a strategic journey to increase our ITIL maturity level and deliver business value in more effectively. Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance a large ServiceNow implementation, as a member of our Platform team, focusing largely on the improvement of ITOM-related capabilities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and currency of our CMDB as a system of record, including integrations with other systems that need access to authoritative configuration data.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, application/infrastructure owners, and business stakeholders to model operational availability of application, business and technical services across the enterprise in a fine-grained and transparent manner.
  • Identify and lead other opportunities to deliver enhanced business value with ServiceNow.
  • Participate in a 7×24 on-call support rotation for this mission-critical system.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two year degree or certification in a technology-related field or equivalent combination of education, work experience or relevant military experience, and at least 4 years of experience in related field.
  • 4+ years IT experience, including several years of systems development experience in the design and development of department-wide or enterprise-wide applications.
  • Detailed understanding and 4+ years programming languages (specialized technical requirements as shown in attachment) and strong knowledge of office applications (e.g. Microsoft Office).
  • Possesses full technical knowledge of phases of software development life cycle.
  • Experience with at least two full life cycle implementations of a new application or purchased application.
  • Extensive knowledge of multiple languages, i.e (specialized technical requirements as shown in attachment) environment, active business processes, business areas, as well as industry.
  • Knowledge of systems and/or business analysis design concepts. Demonstrated proficiency in the applied use of systems and process analysis tools. Full system life cycle experience, including development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Ability to facilitate interactive design and functional specification sessions.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms. Excellent technical writing and system documentation skills.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills for moderate sized projects.
  • Must be a “team player” able to work with management in developing and implementing new processes and enabling systems. Able to work with end user groups to define application needs and identify feasible solutions.
  • Proactive, self-motivated with the ability to motivate others and a customer-focused service attitude.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to meet objectives and effectively multi-task.
  • Ability to work with multiple levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Strong communication and analysis skills, with the ability to negotiate solutions that meet customer needs while leveraging the technical capabilities of the underlying platform.
  • Significant development and administration experience with ServiceNow, or equivalent REST-style Web application development using Angular HTML, Javascript, JSON, and XML.
  • Significant experience with ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping capabilities, preferably in a successful enterprise deployment. Experience with CSDM 3.0 modeling is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of modern security and networking technologies. Experience with ServiceNow SecOps capabilities or NERC CIP compliance is a bonus.
  • Experience with modern infrastructure and application monitoring is a bonus, including the use of ServiceNow for Event management and as a monitor-of-monitors (MOM) tool.
  • Knowledge of the ITIL framework and related ITOM practices
  • Experience with collaborative development using Agile, Scrum, and/or DevOps methodologies
  • Experience in a utility or other highly-regulated environment
  • An analytical approach to problem-solving, coupled with the ability to conceptualize systems.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms. Excellent technical writing and system documentation skills.
  • Experience with and ability to easily navigate through either SQL Server or Oracle DBMS.
  • Experience with and ability to easily navigate through either IBM AIX or Microsoft Windows Server.
  • Experience working with HP Quality Center for testing management and monitoring.
  • Customer centric focus with demonstrated ability to apply insights to meet customer technology needs and improve IT maturity
  • Proven experience working independently and/or in a team environments to deliver on initiatives
  • Ability to drive for results to deliver against commitments, and hold yourself and others accountable

The pay range for this position is $92,900.00 – $163,600.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
