Responsibilities
This leader will oversee Mayo Clinic’s enterprise-wide financial counseling activities that include leadership of on-site financial counseling leaders and staff, management of key vendor relationships, maintenance of the compendium of resources to address financial toxicity, coordinating regular training and education of staff on new tools/policies and regularly updating policies, procedures, and technologies associated with financial counseling/financial navigation workflows and the delivery of patient service cost estimates. This leader will work closely with site operational, clinical, and revenue cycle leadership where appropriate to drive standardization in processes, technology, and workflows. This position will set a vision and implement a strategy toward best-in-class financial counseling services across the multiple regions and sites of the Mayo Clinic enterprise. The Director will partner with site leadership to update protocols and services based on emerging trends and develop patient-centric workflows and materials to improve patient engagement and experiences (e.g., necessary forms/applications, informational pamphlets, welcomes/educational videos, etc.). This position ensures the program stays current and aligned with changes to Medicaid eligibility, Healthcare Insurance Marketplace, presumptive eligibility/charity care, and other related policies and regulations. The Director partners with internal stakeholders in setting the path forward on new and emerging patient financial digital capabilities. In addition, this role is responsible for continuously evaluating the program for efficiency and automation capabilities toward a best-in-class patient financial experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree with 10 years’ experience which includes at least 7 years in general leadership required. Master’s degree preferred.
Additional Experience:
Broad expertise in healthcare management, healthcare operations, change management and systems preferred. Possesses and applies knowledge of healthcare clinical and administrative systems and processes to achieve organizational priorities. Has solid knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Possess ability to apply broad knowledge to new circumstances to add value and perspective. Exhibits a customer-service orientation; anticipates, understands and addresses customer needs in a timely manner. Working knowledge of large revenue cycle systems preferred and medical record systems. Ability to establish a productive team-based work environment and collaborate effectively across multiple sites and functions. Demonstrated communication and presentation skills. Ability to lead or direct multiple complex projects and activities in an ambiguous environment. Participates in establishing an environment that promotes initiative, creativity and a high level of productivity.
