About the Entrance Staff, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Role:
BRIC seeks Entrance Staff, who will be part of a dynamic team welcoming audience members, answering questions, and soliciting donations at the entrances to the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! site. Entrance Staff will be responsible for engaging with audience members as they enter the venue. Candidates should have experience interacting with the public to positively engage the audience and represent the message of BRIC and the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! experience.
What You’ll Do in the Role:
Entrance Staff will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Front of House Manager, BCB!
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Welcome audience members at venue entrances.
- Manage lines to venue entrances.
- Solicit and collect donations.
- Scan tickets to benefit concerts.
- Answer questions, spread positive & accurate messaging about BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival & BRIC.
- Engage with the audience and distribute brochures and other materials, as needed.
- Work well with the rest of the Entrance Staff team – as well as volunteers, Green Team, Production Team, etc.
- Assist with reconfiguring chairs on some occasions.

- Must obtain F-04 Certificate of Fitness (Fire Guard) issued by the FDNY: BRIC will assist applicants with preparation and compensation for the examination.
- Must be at least 18 years old – college students on summer break are encouraged to apply!
- Availability throughout the festival season and can commit to most or all the show dates.
- Experience in positively interacting with the public, and ability to navigate large crowds of people.
- Ability to easily talk to strangers – candidates must feel comfortable asking the general public for donations of money as they enter the venue.
- Strong voice projection.
- Comfortable handling cash and making change.
- Comfortable with technology (ticket scanners and mobile donations).
- Strong organizational skills.
- Professional appearance required.
- Must be able to stand outside on foot for the entire 6-8 hour shift and be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Must have positive, proactive, and professional behavior at all times.
- Interest in the performing arts – acting experience a plus!
- Experience managing a team is not required, but will be desirable for some of our Entrance Staff members.
Other Things to Know:
- Compensation: The rate of pay for this position is $15/hour.
- Status and location: This is a part-time, non-exempt role based at the Lena Horne Bandshell at Prospect Park. The time commitment for this position is expected to be late May – August 6th, Thursday through Saturdays with some weekdays included, and some additional training hours in May.
