The Boeing Company is seeking an Entry Level DevSecOps / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join the Special Projects Dallas (SPD) P-8A Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) Software Engineering team located in Richardson, TX. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
The Boeing SPD AAS team provides the mission systems software that runs on the P-8A to provide the warfighter the ability to perform mission planning, tactic planning, interface with the sensor, display sensor data to the operator, and replay missions. The team also provides the capability to train fleet operators on the AAS mission by adding the AAS-specific simulations to the baseline P-8 Training system.
In this role, you will help guide the Boeing Enterprise transformation of DevSecOps across our SPD programs. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain a modern system deployment to a secure environment with a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) workflows for system build, test and deploy in containerized microservices. We operate as a fast-paced agile team. We seek candidates who have proven skills in DevOps, software development, test automation, and system automation. Position responsibilities:
- Develop and Enhance our DevOps operations in multiple secure environments
- Perform in the entire software development life cycle of the DevOps tool chain
- Collaborate on idea creation and development of the DevOps tool chain
- Support the ongoing lifecycle maintenance of the DevOps tool chain
- Support the software quality efforts of our Boeing product deliveries to our customers
- Rolling out upgrades to our software factories as needed
- Work closely with developers, testers, and system engineers from multiple product teams
- Suggest modifications to the DevSecOps workflow to improve efficiency
- Research and pitch new tools/products to the team
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active) The ability to obtain a final U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (Post Start).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Associate’s Degree or higher, a Technical certificate or degree, or 2 or more years of equivalent technical experience
- Strong programming experience in Java, Python, Go, or C++
- Experience with Automation and/or CICD techniques and design patterns
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with developing software for containerized architectures (Docker, Podman and/or Kubernetes)
- Experience with GIT lab CI/CD processes including debugging, test, and integration of software tools
- Strong communication skills and a self-starter that can thrive in a distributed remote work environment
- Understanding of secure software development methodologies and Security First mindset
- Understanding of designing and implementing full stack/Microservice infrastructure
- Understanding of Istio/Service Mesh
- Experience in setting up and managing a tool-chain using tools such as Jenkins, Gradle, Maven, Artifactory, ELK, SonarQube, Jira, Prometheus, Fluentd, Helm, DataGrid, JBoss, Cloud Suite, OpenShift, Docker and more
- Understanding of security controls such as DoD RMF, HIPAA, or Security Operations Center (SOC)
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. 2 years’ related work experience).

Summary pay range: $44,200 – $59,800
