Boeing Global Services is currently seeking a self-motivated Entry Level Software Engineer to become part of the Training Systems team in Hazelwood, MO. This Software Engineer is excited to develop software for real-time distributed systems and is familiar with distributed communication and messaging as well as multithreaded application development.

The P-8 Vehicle Simulation Software Team develops quality training software of onboard surveillance and weapons systems and the software for a full motion pilot training simulator for both Domestic and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) as well as Direct Commercial Sales (DCS).

P-8 Aircrew Training currently supports multiple concurrent contracts (foreign and domestic) and continues to grow with the next large-scale USN development planned in 2023. The P-8 Aircrew Training Program operates in a SAFe Agile environment using cross-functional teams (Software, Systems Engineering, Integration) all driving toward a common trainer delivery.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Implement and test software/systems using a variety of technologies.
  • Clearly communicate issues and suggest alternative paths forward.

  • Listen and support teams in problem identification, root cause analysis, and decision making.
  • Ability to communicate up and out as well as down and in.

This position is Hybrid. This means the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. (Hazelwood, MO). This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future. (Allows some telecommuting).

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, engineering, mathematics, physics, or other technical degree by December 2023
  • Classroom or work related programming experience with any of the following software development languages: Ada, C, C++, C#, or JAVA

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience with professional software development and programming in a collaborative environment using an Objective Oriented Programming language such as C/C++, C# and/or Java
  • 1 + years of experience in hardware and software integration
  • Experience working on distributed, real-time multi-language systems
  • Experience software debugging and troubleshooting system failure
  • Experience in developing or testing real time integrated avionics hardware/software systems for spacecraft, high performance aircraft or other similar platforms
  • Experience developing, documenting, and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems
  • Knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems
  • Experience developing in a software development environment, e.g., Visual Studio
  • Experience with a distributed version control systems, e.g., Git & Gitlab
  • Experience with an Agile planning methodology, e.g., Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience with an issue tracking system, e.g., Digital.ai Agility, formerly VersionOne
  • Has or has held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months.
  • The highest level U.S. Security Clearance currently hold or have held in the past 24 months

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $69,700 – $94,300
