CEG’s esteemed client is seeking a dynamic professional to manage projects with finesse, from maintaining project momentum to budget supervision. As a Compliance Manager, you’ll work closely with Senior Technical Managers, driving projects to success with precision and collaboration.

The Environmental Compliance Manager will play a pivotal role for our client and industry leader within an environmental consulting firm by effectively managing projects pertaining to regulatory, environmental, and health & safety compliance. The role encompasses project oversight, ensuring the quality of work products, personnel leadership, task delegation, and budget management. The Compliance Manager will report directly to the Senior Technical Managers and will receive guidance from the Technical Principal of Compliance, as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise and assign projects to a team of professional-level technical and administrative support staff, ensuring the achievement of set objectives and deadlines.
  • Maintain open communication channels with Senior Technical Managers and Compliance Consultants regarding project status, resource requirements, potential project prospects, and regulatory concerns.
  • Execute compliance tasks as directed by Senior Technical Managers and Compliance Consultants, working collaboratively with Compliance Specialists.
  • Lead the completion of compliance reports, plan updates, sampling operations, and related activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
  • Interpret existing regulations and formulate strategies to ensure client adherence.
  • Facilitate client communication as per the guidance of Compliance Consultants.
  • Support Senior Technical Managers and Compliance Consultants in cultivating relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Actively participate in Project Team initiatives to foster collaboration and enhance project outcomes.
  • Uphold project momentum and manage project budgets to achieve optimal results.
  • Attain set billable targets.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Possess sound technical and regulatory expertise to underpin client strategies, negotiate with regulatory agencies, and devise innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in conducting compliance audits, preparing reports such as Tier II and Form R, SPCC plans, stormwater reports, air permit applications, wastewater discharge permits, and hazardous waste reports.
  • Competence in conducting technical research for project requirements.
  • Ability to train and support Compliance Specialists in completing compliance reports, updating plans, and conducting sampling activities.
  • Capability to mentor and contribute to training initiatives.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Education: B.S. in Environmental Science or related field
  • Experience: 2 – 6 + years of experience in environmental consulting
  • Skills: Strong verbal/written communication

Additional requirements:

  • Valid driver-s license, acceptable driving record, and physically capable of operating the vehicles safely

JOB CONTEXT:

  • 50 – 75% office (controlled environment), 25 – 50% field/site visit travel (environmental job hazards)
  • This classification requires travel to various client locations.
  • Travel typically involves day trips within the state or neighboring states, resulting in longer workdays; and may include extended and/or further travel, resulting in multiple days and overnights. Long distance drives and air travel may be required.

Skills: Effective verbal and written communication.

Additional Requirements: Possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the physical capability to operate vehicles safely.
