Responsibilities

Position assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive safety management and emergency preparedness program. The individual must maintain familiarization with applicable local, state, and federal regulations and applicable standards. Activities include, but are not limited to, anticipating and analyzing complex and emerging hazards; assessment of risks, impacts and driving mitigation or control requirements. Acts as an emergency management and business continuity consultant and resource in directing activities within portions of the emergency management and business continuity programs in a customer focused environment. Must be able to develop, conduct, and facilitate emergency management and business continuity audits and emergency/disaster exercises; able to effectively document findings in an after action report and identify appropriate improvement recommendations.

Qualifications

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Emergency Management or a related field and a minimum of five years experience in Medical/Healthcare which includes significant technical knowledge and understanding of safety regulations.Knowledge of business continuity desired. Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of applicable regulatory agency requirement (Arizona specific knowledge preferred). Evidence of written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team, and to build rapport with variety of people. Evidence of working knowledge of PC and ability to use routine computer software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).Certified Safety Professional ‘CSP’ or Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) preferred. Completion of 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) class and subsequent 8-hour refresher class annually since certification, or completion of 40-hour class within 6 months of employment with certification obtained upon completion of the class. Current hazardous materials management certification considered. Certified Emergency Manager preferred.
