JOB OVERVIEW:
The Environmental Manager is a team leader responsible for managing environmental compliance, proposals, and operations support for a utility scale EPC contractor in the US. The Environmental Manager will provide input and technical expertise for environmental compliance for all projects from the Proposal phase through construction and warranty support.
The Environmental Manager will work closely with the Estimating Department, Operations, and Senior PRE leadership to ensure Environmental Compliance and Sustainability throughout all PRE project locations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Environmental Manager will support all environmental related aspects of PRE projects, as required by federal, state, and local regulations during the proposal, pre-construction, construction, and warranty phases of solar projects. Typical responsibilities include:
• Manage and lead environmental professionals to ensure Environmental Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across PRE jobsites.
• Develop and implement standardize Work Plans and Work Methods for the Environmental Group.
• Collaborate with the Clients to understand their sustainability initiatives. Use this insight and data to lead the environmental group to explore sustainability opportunities for the PRE organization.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Project Operations to support and achieve business goals.
• Assign, develop, train, mature, mentor, hire, and manage personnel and contractors across projects throughout the program.
• Establish and communicate project and program objectives and expectations to facilitate understanding across the participants.
• Work with your peers in Business Development and Operations to create and maintain the discipline to safely deliver quality projects on time and within budget with certainty, consistently.
• Instill confidence in the team using good project management principles and practices including communication, planning, coordination, collaboration, control, and reporting techniques that inform, create efficiency, and add value in a professional participatory manner.
• Develop strategies to achieve corporate objectives and work to implement in concert with other members of the leadership team.
• Establish goals and objectives for the Environmental Group and make detailed plans to accomplish those goals.
• Measure and report progress as appropriate.
• Check technical accuracy of work and oversee quality management system procedures for the work produced by the group.
• Establish administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
• Coordinate Environmental Group activities with other business units or organizations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering or related degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Professional Engineering License preferred.
• Minimum 10 years progressive environmental experience.
• In depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
• Role includes supporting multiple projects site locations with travel up to 25% of the time.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Interpersonal skills – Ability to present information to a small group of employees or sub-contractors.
• Effective communication skills (oral, written, listening, presentation) to effectively work with subcontractors and employees
• Computer literacy. This does not include knowledge of all software to be used, but the ability to learn to use efficiently the software which is in use. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio).
• Organization skills. Scheduling, planning and prioritization.
• Advanced construction drawing knowledge. Knowledge of drawing layouts, references, notes, and good practices associated with producing and reading construction drawings.
• Ability to follow safety rules without cutting corners. To understand the intent of safety rules, not blindly adhering to the literal words of the rule.
