Key Responsibilities:
Highly collaborative, manager role driving performance insights and improvements for United’s environmental compliance and sustainability teams. The Manager will work across the Environmental Affairs teams, as well as with other United departments to maintain and optimize environmental electronic management and information systems. This role drives the implementation, maintenance, tracking, and ongoing analysis of data that will inform the environmental compliance and sustainability programs, priorities and initiatives. In addition, this role will collaborate with environmental team leadership to evaluate and recommend electronic tools, resources, and projects that facilitate improvement and efficiency for environmental management using analytical data insights. Must have a passion for and desire to engage in activities and initiatives within the environmental sustainability and compliance fields. Other roles include system data analysis to support environmental department needs in various functional areas, including cost tracking, compliance, sustainability, drinking water, policy analysis, recycling and others. Support other duties as assigned.
- Environmental Management Information Systems Management
- Handle the collection, maintenance, tracking and analysis of environmental compliance and sustainability data
- Manage and maintain United’s environmental sustainability electronic systems and databases for all United users
- Work with department leadership to develop and implement EMS & Digital Technology system goals to streamline environmental data collection, tracking, reporting, and dashboard communications to support United’s ongoing environmental and sustainability goals
- Work with United’s Digital Technology Department and third party technology providers on technology related projects including system implementation, training, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance
- Lead the communications among internal customers on EMIS implementation, planning/coordination efforts, and best practices sharing
- Collect, maintain, track and analyze department data
- Assist the environmental affairs department with technical solutions in other functional areas including cost tracking, drinking water, compliance tracking, environmental sustainability metrics, policy analysis, footprint, etc.
- Ensure data quality and integrity in all environmental database systems
- Assist with special projects, data requests, inspections, etc. as necessary and requested
- Support environmental sustainability and policies
- Assist with the development of new ESG and sustainability related processes to support United’s internal and external reporting requirements and initiatives
- Work with technology vendors to evaluate, assess, and recommend new technology solutions to develop efficiencies while also protecting the integrity and confidentiality of the data

- Establish individual goals that align with departmental goals
- Responsible in developing individual career development and training plans with their Sr. Manager and Director
- Use technical knowledge experience to provide thoughtful decision making and guidance in strategic implementation of United’s approved projects, specifically including the environmental management information systems

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in science, environmental sciences/policy, computer science or related area
- At least 5 years of environmental professional job experience including environmental IT systems management and/or use
- Effective personal and professional communication skills, including internal and external stakeholders
- Project management skills
- Presentation skills, adaptable to varying levels of employees and leadership
- Able to analyze and interpret data
- Environmental regulatory knowledge
- Self-motivated, self-starter, works independently with little oversight
- Problem solver
- Experience with data management systems
- Strong computer skills including MS Office suite, SharePoint, analytic tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, or Tableau
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- 7+ years of environmental technology system management in aviation industry
- IT system management skills
- Familiarity with airline operations
- Knowledge of EMS systems, including ISO 14001
- Familiarity with third party software solutions
The salary for this position will fall between $76,800-112,640 (based on experience)
