Position Summary
The Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Specialist will provide input and drive implementation of STERIS’s sustainability strategy. The role will focus on marketing and communications of ESG activities, reporting, and initiatives internally and externally. The specialist will work with cross functional teams, outside industry groups, and Customers to deliver practical sustainability solutions that enable our business to grow while meeting stakeholder expectations. Perform other duties as assigned.
This role is open to remote work opportunity, with a preference to be located near STERIS’ St. Louis facility.
Duties
- Support the implementation of a multi-year ESG strategy that aligns with the company’s vision.
- Assist in the submissions for formal evaluations conducted by leading corporate sustainability research and ratings firms, including MSCI, ISS, and CDP and others.
- Manage the company sustainability website and assist with the publication of the Corporate Responsibility / Sustainability Report.
- Sit on divisional sustainability committees and promote progress on projects.
- Support the continued establishment of and measurement of progress against formal quantitative and qualitative ESG goals and targets.
- Partner with marketing and commercial teams to optimally position sustainability at the Customer level by developing marketing materials.
- Bring awareness to sustainability efforts internally.
- Complete Customer survey requests while ensuring consistency and accuracy of information.
- Engage with operations, engineering, research & development, and other teams to identify sustainability opportunities.
- Research emerging ESG regulations and standards.
- Partner with data analytics to analyze data and manage ESG dashboards.

Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of previous experience in corporate responsibility / ESG / Sustainability or marketing and communications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible.
- Strong problem solving and project management skills.
Preferred Experience
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
- Technical knowledge and experience with relevant standards and reporting frameworks, including CDP, EcoVadis, Ecodesk, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and others.
- Presentation skills, including public speaking and PowerPoint experience.
- Experience with internal audit processes and investor relations.
- Digital design experience preferred.
Pay range for this opportunity is $51,120.00 – $67,095.00. This position is eligible for [BONUS PARTICIPATION] OR a [INSERT COMMISSION RATE RANGE, IF APPLICABLE] commission.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
