The Work You Will Do:
This is a second level intermediate professional position in the Permitting Program responsible for permitting activities concerning Submerged lands and Environmental Resources to include the State 404 program.

Where you will work:
The Northwest District is located along the Gulf Coast. We proudly serve 16 counties in the Florida panhandle including; Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla, Walton and Washington. This district has three offices located in Pensacola, Panama City and Tallahassee. This position is located in Pensacola.

Pay:
Annual salary based on experience – $46,667.25 – $49,311.61
Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a second level intermediate professional position in the Permitting Program responsible for permitting activities related to the Permitting Program. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Reviews and evaluates Environmental Resource permit applications for conformance to state and federal rules and regulations.
- Produces complex permits and/or documents and requests for additional information, when required, that are consistent with prescribed rules and department guidance and procedures.
- Performs site inspections, as necessary, in support of permit application reviews and evaluations.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely entry of required data and system information into agency databases and Oculus.
- Provides technical assistance to the compliance assurance program.
- Provides regulatory assistance, such as outreach, permitting determinations, exemptions and compliance assistance to permittee and/or company representatives, other department programs, delegated local programs, and other interested parties.
- Participates in training activities as required. Coordinates and facilitates program-specific training for staff.
- Performs related work as required by supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of the terminology, principles and analytical techniques of the environmental or natural sciences.
- Knowledge of data collection and analysis principles and procedures.
- Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze and interpret scientific or technical reports and supporting documentation.
- Ability to prepare technical reports.
- Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable regulations, policies and procedures relating to environmental programs.
- Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and leadership.
- Ability to interact with customers in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to cross-train into multiple regulatory programs.
- Ability to identify solutions to problems and exhibit positive problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to meet established performance standards as identified in the district performance standards document.
- Ability to travel and maintain a valid driver’s license.

- Experience with process review and efficiency implementation through use of continuous improvement strategies.
- Experience with workload coordination within multi-functional team.
- Experience with Environmental Resource Permitting activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License
- A 4-year degree or higher from an accredited college or university OR 4 years related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, environmental science, or one of the natural sciences
- Minimum of two years of work experience in an environmental or engineering profession or equivalent additional education.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
