Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Investigator

The Department’s Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) is responsible for ensuring compliance with EEO laws, and policies, including developing initiatives and strategies. The EEO Office is also responsible for coordinating with other units within the Agency to promote a diverse and inclusive culture.

Responsibilities:
1. Process requests for reasonable accommodations (RA), including conducting intake, advising employees/applicants as to the RA process, and engaging with the employee and Unit.
2. Conduct complaint intake to determine whether EEO-related and prepare summary for review by EEO Officer and/or Deputy EEO Officer.
3. Assist EEO Officer and Deputy EEO Officer with EEO investigations.
4. Conduct legal and other research.
5. Draft correspondence, case summaries, memos, and reports for review by the EEO Officer and Deputy EEO Officer.
6. Assist in tracking and maintaining electronic record of reasonable accommodation, conflict resolution, and training data
7. Assist with planning and implementation of department-wide EEO training curriculum, including facilitating training sessions, and coordinating workshops.
8. Assist in maintaining and developing EEO databases
9. Assist the EEO Officer and Deputy EEO Officer with special projects, as needed
10. Perform a variety of clerical/administrative duties, including monitoring and answering DOB EEO phone/email
11. Schedule complainant, witness, and respondent interviews, and other related meetings.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in one or more of the fields of criminal justice administration and planning, forensic science, human resources, labor relations, auditing, building inspection, or legal affairs; or

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or

3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above.

• Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Ability to handle confidential information

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
