The Opportunity:
The Installed Base Products and Engineering group is responsible for supply of innovative products, modernized equipment, and high value engineering expertise and specialty services to the entire operating commercial nuclear fleet in the US, the DOE and Advanced Reactors. The project engineer is responsible for technical integration across engineering groups and implementing projects within budget and schedule. This opportunity is located in our offices in Lynchburg, VA and Charlotte, NC.
What You’ll Do at Framatome:
You will be responsible for coordinating all engineering work (maintaining overall technical solution, development of procedures, etc.) and other document which will be required to implement the contract within budget and schedule. Typical responsibilities include:
- Plan, organize, implement and follow through to completion a solution to address the client’s need.
- Define and forecast the necessary skills and work arrangements to support the objectives of the project.
- May supervise / coordinate day-to-day operations of engineers and others who assist in completion of specific project assignments.
- Represents Framatome’s Installed Base Engineering in communication with other organizations to resolve questions, plan, and coordinate work.
- Propose plans and cost improvement programs that allow the project to achieve its business objectives.
- Schedule development, linkage, and progress on work activities.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Team Supervisors.
- Identify and quantify technical risks of the engineering work performed.
- Develop engineering deliverables, such as specifications, technical position papers, and design reports as necessary.
- Review engineering calculations or technical documents for accuracy, appropriate content and contractual requirements.
Required Experience
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity:
- BS in Eng’g/Eng’g Tech. (plant experience with an SRO license will be considered) plus a minimum of 7 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.). In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of 4 yr engineering degree. Framatome LSS Black Belt certification preferred

- Familiarity with NRC regulatory requirements and guidance for the applications to construct and operate nuclear power plants (e.g., 10 CFR 50.55a, 10 CFR 50 Appendices A and B, NUREG-0800).
- Familiarity with 10 CFR 50.59 for the license amendment requirements for nuclear power plant modifications.
- Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code.
- Familiarity with configuration management of a system design.
- Experience in working on advanced reactor designs (for some open positions).
- Experience in working in multiple plant areas (Primary, Engineered Safeguards, BOP, Turbine Cycle).
- Experience in working with the government (e.g., DoE and DoD).
- Experience with NRC Staff / ACRS (e.g., presentations to regulatory authorities).
Our total rewards package
The range of base salary for the position is between $111,000 – $151,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
