Equipment Mechanic

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks an Equipment Mechanic to perform master/journey-level work in the diagnostic, overhaul, adjustment, repair and maintenance of Fort Lyon vehicles and equipment. This position is located at 30999 County Road 15, Las Animas, Colorado 81054and reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Repair and maintain all vehicles, heavy and light equipment.
  2. Complete metal fabrication and repairs as needed.
  3. Perform tune ups, brake work, and other preventative maintenance on all vehicles and other powered rolling equipment.
  4. Replace common parts and make necessary adjustments.
  5. Maintain appropriate service and repair records.
  6. Troubleshoot air, fuel, electrical and hydraulic systems and make repairs as necessary.
  7. Provide assistance to grounds department on an as needed basis.
  8. May include supervision of work assigned to other staff.
  9. May include 24-7 on call responsibilities.
  10. Respond to emergency situations that include emergency maintenance requests, fire alarms, etc.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Summary

  1. Experience in equipment maintenance.
  2. License, certificate or degree in a trade or maintenance field preferred.
  3. Must have a valid driver’s license.
