Summary

SDI provides independent advisory consulting for local government clients implementing, maintaining, upgrading, and refining Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications. The ERP Consultant is responsible for providing subject matter expertise around ERP functionality, configuration design, and data migration and conversion to support SDI’s existing ERP project management approach. The Consultant ensures that SDI can provide an independent review of best practice configurations and approaches based on client business requirements. The Consultant will report to the Vice President of Advisory Services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall effort to support SDI’s clients in the assessment of existing enterprise systems, the procurement of replacement solutions for existing systems, or the implementation of new enterprise systems. Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following tasks:
    • System Assessments
      • Serve as SDI’s liaison to senior leadership and project sponsor(s) to ensure common understanding of the project scope, approach, and responsibilities
      • Research and review available documentation, including operation/user guides, solution design documents (logical or physical designs), procedure documentation, budgets, job descriptions, information technology strategic plans and other available documentation
      • Schedule and coordinate end-user workshops/interviews to reveiw the use of existing systems to determine whether they provide the necessary features and functionality to meet the business needs of the organization, to identify whether additional 3rd party applications are used, to identify additional or unmet requirements, and to provide SDI insight into functionality that might be available in other systems or best practices that might benefit the client
      • Compile and confirm technical standards to identify potential inadequacies and to ensure that these are documented, and mitigations identified
      • Document functional and technical requirements (including system integrations, and data/document conversions) and review with clients to confirm completeness and accuracy
    • Solution Procurements
      • Serve as SDI’s liaison to senior leadership and project sponsor(s) to ensure common understanding of the project scope, approach, and responsibilities
      • Develop procurement documents and review with clients to confirm completeness and accuracy
      • Provide guidance to clients on effective procurement practices (i.e., courtesy notifications, duration of posting, etc.)
      • Manage the review and scoring of vendor proposals and vendor short-list selections
      • Prepare client staff for and manage vendor demonstrations
      • Coordinate client due diligence and contract negotiation activities
    • System Implementations
      • Serve as the client’s project manager and SDI’s liaison to senior leadership and project sponsor(s) to ensure common understanding of the project status, issues, and progress
      • Serve as the client’s liaison to the software vendor / integrator to ensure that the purchased software and services are provided as contracted; track schedule and task completion; validate milestones; validate vendor hours and invoices (if required)
      • Coordinate the assignment and ongoing participation of client staff resources to the project to ensure that the required staff are identified and available as needed to ensure the success of the project
      • Provide management of the client’s solution design and review processes for new system implementations, including but not limited to system configuration, testing, data migration and conversion activities
      • Assess vendor-proposed configurations and recommend alternatives / improvements in support of best practices, organizational requirements, or goals
        • Including ability to present clearly and understandably to vendor, client staff, and client senior management, as necessary
      • Serve as the project’s liaison for technical tasks, ensuring that existing technical standards are followed/met, and that any required technical solution design documentation is generated
      • Coordinate the documentation of detailed solution test scripts based on client business processes in support of client testing
      • Compile and manage project risks and issues
      • Identify and document lessons learned
      • Provide feedback to senior leadership and incorporate this information into future projects

Requirements

  • 5+ years of ERP system implementation experience
  • Bachelors’ degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Must have experience with ERP configuration approaches
  • Strong technical understanding of migration and upgrade approaches
  • Working knowledge of current ERP components (i.e. financials, purchasing, contracting, payroll, HR; UB and LMS is desirable); Tyler Munis experience is desirable
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience planning and developing support processes and adhering to best practices
  • Ability to provide technical system solutions, determine overall design direction, and provide hardware recommendations for complex technical issues

Compensation Notice
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $110k in our lowest geographic market up to $130k in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. SDI Presence LLC is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
